Sylvia White Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2016.
Sylvia White 1940-2016 Sylvia White (Krantz)

Sylvia passed away peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer on March 28, 2016. She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly for she was their rock. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Donald, children, Shannon (Dave), Lisa (Neill), Duane (Shannon), and Lana (Doug). She cherished her grandchildren, Melanie (Mike), Lesley (Paco), Heather (Dylan), Tyler, Shaun, Ethan, Zack, Abby, Sydney and Connor. She left behind another beautiful generation of great grandchildren who brought her such joy, Bella, Jayden, and Cruz with another baby to arrive in September. Sylvia was born March 30, 1940, to Elsa and Louis Krantz at Grass River, Manitoba. She lived on the farm until 1956 when she went to work in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was an avid 5 pin bowler and played ladies softball for the CVAC Blues in Winnipeg. On June the 10, 1960, she married Donald White, whom she loved with all her heart for almost 56 years. Together they raised four children in three provinces. They lived in Winnipeg, until 1968, then moved to Tisdale, Saskatchewan where they resided until 1976. They made lifelong friends in this little Saskatchewan town cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In that year they moved west to Lamont, became Albertans and loyal Edmonton Eskimo fans. Sylvia enjoyed camping with family and friends, playing horseshoes and curling in bonspiels, but mostly her passion was in her kitchen. She loved to cook and spent hours looking through cookbooks finding the perfect recipe. She was famous for gathering the family and making German dishes that have been passed down for generations. She enjoyed driving and made many memorable road trips. Sylvia's garden and flowers were her pride and joy. She also retired as a Champion leg wrestler, defeating all family and friends. She loved to watch her grandkids in their various sporting activities. Yuma, Arizona was her second home where they spent 5 months every year for 25 seasons. Sylvia spent many happy hours with friends who became family, swimming, golfing, and watching military aircraft. Above all she was the heart and soul of her family and they would like to express sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital for the compassionate care provided to Sylvia. A happy hour, celebrating Sylvia's life will be held from 4-8 at the tournament facility at Coal Creek Golf Course on May 28, 2016. All family and friends are welcome to attend. Please call Black Nugget Campground to reserve your site if you plan on camping for the weekend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sylvia's name to the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital Foundation.
