Sylvia R. Wiswell 1921-2011

Sylvia R. Wiswell age 90 passed away at her home on Tuesday March 29th, 2011. She was born on February 16th, 1921 in Madison, Maine, the daughter of Leon L. Lambert and Gladys Whipple Lambert. She married George A. Wiswell and they spent most of their married life raising their family in Vassalboro, Maine.
Sylvia was a kind and loving person who always saw the good in people. She never met a child she didn't love, accept and nurture. Throughout the years she and George opened their hearts and home helping many. She loved to cook and feed all that visited. Sylvia was a member of Pleasant Street United Methodist Church and The Eastern Star. She worked with her Dad for Harris Baking Company, Quimby Veneer Manufacturing, Sears and Roebuck and in later years at Peters Big Little Store in Waterville. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, fishing watching the birds and time spent with family and friends.
Sylvia was predeceased by her husband George, daughter Evelyn (Wiswell) Vincent, Brother Earl W. Lambert and Sister in Law Kay Lambert. She is survived by her children, Dawne Unruh and husband Richard of Yankton, S.D., Leon Wiswell and Fran of Canaan, Daniel Wiswell of Vassalboro, and Kelly Hoskins and husband Brett of Vassalboro, her grandchildren; David Unruh, Cathy Dykstra, Sylvia Fedde, Richard Unruh, Leon Wiswell Jr., Patrick Wiswell, Gerald Wiswell, Matthew Vincent, Elena Vincent, Katie Hoskins, Barrett Hoskins and their families, a niece April Travis of N.C., nephew James Lambert and wife Michelle of AL., and several Great-Grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Redington Funeral Home, 5 Park St. in Waterville Maine on Monday April 4th at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sylvia's memory to the American Cancer Society or a charity of their choice.
