Tadeusz

"Ted" Mroz passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013, in his home. Born in the Ukraine, was raised in Lodz, Poland till the age of 3, when captured by the Nazis and sent to various work camps. When the American soldiers came to the camp and announced the war was over, he and his soon to be wife chose to come to American where they lived in Sylvania Twp. Until his death.

He started Ted Mroz & Sons Masonry, which currently is Mroz Masonry. He was always hard at work, whether it was the business or home. Everything could be fixed, and he accomplished any project until it worked. He reused, recycled , and refurbished long before it became popular.

Everyone knows how good hearted he was; a man who never had an enemy, and always treated everyone with kindness, generosity and respect. During the war at one time he was digging trenches by the German/ France border. Many Poles were shot when growing weak and ill from standing in the cold mud for 16 hours a day. Ted convinced 15 fellow Prisoner/Poles to escape with shovels in hand by posing as a group that his former camp needed for farming. He led and spoke to the Nazis they encountered along the way, explaining their appointed destination. Amazingly, his story was believed, and when they reached the farm/camp, his former head of the farm was only too happy that the Nazis, he received 15 thank you cards for saving their lives until they died. From giving men work when they couldn't find any, to buying shoes for a large family of children in need, or letting a total stranger come stay when found he was living in his car at a gas station his son worked at, to feeding the wildlife at his home, his heart always put into action never expecting for anything in return.

He was active in the Polish community, attending many activities, especially his love for dancing. He welcomed everyone to his home throwing the most festive parties, and no matter where he went, was the life of the party, whether it be singing, dancing, or dressing up in costumes, taking out his Mexican gear, hula outfit, or going to a Christmas party dressed as one of the 3 kings bearing his "homebrew" as a gift.

He is preceded by his wife, Zofia; beloved friend, Anna Krol, and grandson, Teddy. He's already sorely missed by his children, Ann (Clarence Jr.) Brown, Andrey, Art (Darla), Adam, and Angela Davis; grandchildren, Lisa (Joe) Ballinger, Heather, Sheri Mroz (Joe Lozano), lil Adas-Adam (Brittney); Sofia and Chaz; great grandchildren, Jonathon, Joey, Carmen, and Brantley.

The family will have a gathering at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, from 3:00 p.m., until the Memorial Service is conducted at 7:00 p.m.

The family thanks all Ted's friends, especially the Pypno family, for many years of friendship and love, and the late Vincent Herr for helping him when they came to American. Our families will be bound forever.

The Mroz family would also like to give special thanks to Gentiva Hospice who made everyone's life as comfortable as possible, and encourage anyone needing such services to choose such a truly caring company and staff.

I had the honor of calling Ted.."Dad" For a decade. He was a fascinating and interesting man.. And most of all an honorable man. He was a living and breathing History lesson. I would be mesmerised by his Stories of he and his wife during forced labor camps ww2. What they both lived through and endure during those times it's just short of a miracle they came out on the other side. He was the patriarch of the family and I know is sorely missed by all his kids and grandkids and great grandkids.. Now Ted and Zofia Are back together again.. Whenever I think of them I find myself with a smile of their memories. God bless Angi , Andre, Art, Adam & The entire family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all always. Devin...
