Tadeusz Rauser

RAUSER _ Tadeusz Peter 1933 - 2007 Tadeusz "Peter" Rauser passed away at the Southwood Hospice surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 23 at the age of 73 years. Peter was born on March 11, 1933 in Zyrardow, Poland, the second child of Karl and Stanislava Rauser. At twelve years of age, he moved with his parents and two sisters to Hamburg, Germany where he studied then worked as a men's hairstylist. It was in Hamburg that he met and married the love of his life for the last fifty-two years, Gisela (nee Cordes). In October of 1959, he sailed with his wife and small children on the Alexander Puskin to start a new life in Canada. In 1961, two years after arriving in Canada, he opened his first salon in Forest Lawn; Modern Barbershop. He went on to own and operate two other barber shops. In 1998, he retired from Kingsland Men's Hairstyling on Elbow Drive to pursue some of his other passions: woodworking, hiking through Fish Creek Park, wine making, traveling and most of all spending time with his family. His wife Gisela who was constantly by his bedside showed the love and devotion that characterized their long years of marriage. His willingness to listen and always help will be greatly missed by his children, Jurgen Rauser and his wife Deanna, Angelika Duxbury and her husband Michael and Thomas Rauser and his wife Terri. His nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren will always have fond memories of the large Christmas dinners and Easter egg hunts in Fish Creek Park. Peter will also be missed by his sister Diana Pfob of Kelowna and Maria Geigenberger of Hamburg, Germany. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Barbara Kearnes and the Palliative Home Care team for their compassion and dedication in the last year.
