Tamaki Sakai Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 24 to May 25, 2023.
Tamaki Sakai of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on May 17, 2023 in Honolulu, Hawaii, after a battle with advanced-stage colorectal cancer. She had just turned 47 years of age. Tamaki was survived by her immediate family.

Born in Osaka, Japan, she was the beloved daughter of Katsumi and Akiko, sister of Kensaku and Yusaku. After moving to the US, she had studied photography at School of Visual Arts. Her love of travel, arts, space and exhibitions culminated in her working as a project manager for Foresight North America, Inc.

Reliable, creative, reserved, caring and giving, she was the ultimate right-hand person for many. Her laughter was infectious. Tamaki was a great listener to her loyal friends who appreciated and cherished her loving presence and personality.

She is greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and colleague, Tamaki. We met at work many years ago, and I quickly came to admire her intelligence, dedication, and sense of humor. She was always willing to help out, and she always had a smile on her face.

In addition to being a great colleague, Tamaki was also a wonderful friend. We would often go out for tea or lunch, and we would talk about everything from work to our families to our hopes and dreams. She was always there for me, and I will never forget her kindness and support.

I will miss Tamaki dearly. She was a bright light in my life, and I will never forget her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to the family.

Tamaki was a kind hearted and gentle soul. She was always a pleasure to work with and a joy to be around. We would talk about how much she would have loved to visit my home country of Egypt as a tourist one day. I would tell her how much I wanted to visit Japan and see the gundam statue. May you forever rest in peace. Heaven is a better place with you there. You will be missed by all.

Tamaki was a blessing in my life - always supportive, open-minded and smiling. She had an especially nurturing and gentle aura, and was the only person that my little dog would let pick up and flip upside down for a belly rub. She knew Tamaki could be trusted.

We will miss you very much, Tamaki! <3
