I have just found out about your loss -- I'm shocked and very sad.
I was a close friend of Tamela's in the early 1990s; I lived next door to her in Inwood; and visited her once in Maine in 1994, when I met Betty at Thanksgiving. We kept track of each other; I last saw her in 2009 when she came down to New York to attend Jim Carroll's funeral.
There's nothing I can say except that Tamela was/is an important part of my life; and that I will miss her greatly.

I remember Tamela from the early 90's. She was an amazing artist and singer. My band performed with hers around Halloween one year and I'll never forget her amazing performance. She was a truly talented person. We are all lucky to have shared in her life in some small way. My condolences to her family and close friends.

Dear Mrs. Glenn and Family,
Please know that the beauty and brilliance that was Tamela will be remembered by me, and by both my sons, for the rest of our lives. She gave the gift of theater to Joe and Sam, and rescued them at a time when their lives were in an upheaval... and by helping them, she rescued me as well. Tamela was the most luminous human being I have ever known, and I always saw her as part faerie queen. Her lightness, her quickness, her beautiful voice, and her elusiveness. Not one to be contained for long. I have not been able to stop thinking about her. I will always miss her, and I will be forever grateful for the gift that Tamela was to my family. Much, much love to all of you,

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to Middle and High School with Tamela and she was one of my dearest friends.Tamela was a beautiful person inside and out She had a quick wit, a smart mind, and a very kind heart. Although we went our separate ways after High School, I have always valued the good times we spent together, whether talking on the phone or her helping me learn how to ride one of her dear horses. Tammy, you will be greatly missed <3

Tamela was my mentor and teacher when I was in high school. She encouraged me to go to college early and to pursue theatre while I was there. She was one of the first adults I encountered as a young person who made me feel ok to be different, to like the things I liked and to let my freak flag fly.
I miss her terribly.

I was a Philosophy student at Orono when Tamela was and by comparison, not a very good one. I was present when she received the Virtue Award, and while I did not know her well, it was apparent how talented she was. As a Social Worker now living in Vancouver, I was saddened to see Tamela will not be able to pursue graduate work in Social Work as she had planned. I am sure she would have contributed a great deal, as she already had to the world in many other ways. My condolences go out to all she touched.

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Tamela's passing. Though I only had contact with Tamela briefly when many years ago she directed and choreographed a play “Follow the Rainbow” which she had written for her mother's 6th grade reading class, I was impressed with her creative talent and her caring ways with the children. I know that the experience was one of our daughter Julie's treasured memories from her years at Asa Adams Elementary School. It certainly sounds like Tamela's creative talent and compassion for others continued as she embraced life and “followed the rainbow”. Craig and I send our heartfelt sympathy to Betsy and family.

My heart has been extremely heavy since hearing of Tamela's passing. She was a schoolmate at U Maine, a fellow Penobscot Theatre actor and for a time a colleague actor/director at Ten Bucks Theatre. Tamela was an incredibly multi-faceted and multi-talented human being. She was constantly learning and challenging herself and sharing her amazing gifts with those around her, whether through theatre, singing, writing and her amazing healing work. I had not seen Tamela in several years, but was comforted to know she was there. My condolences to her family, friends and to the many, many lives she touched. Truly Tamela was a human being that left the world a much better place. We should all be so fortunate to have that said of us.

I worked briefly with Tamela at RiverCityTherapy and Wellness Center several years ago and found her just amazingly attractive on so many levels. When my teenage daughter was having some health problems, I brought her to Tamela, who was so very sensitive and caring. We are all at a great loss now in this world without her. Such a deep tragedy. My most heartfelt sympathies and condolences go out to all her family and closest friends.

Tamela's spirit and her embrace of life will continue on in our remembrance and as our inspiration. My condolences to her family and friends for their loss of Tamela's daily presence. Tamela was a student of mine when we presented her with the Virtue Award as the outstanding student in philosophy at the University of Maine. She had many talents, but in particular she had the ability for graduate study in philosophy, and could have been a fine philosophy teacher if she had chosen to go in that direction. I'm very saddened to hear of her passing, and offer my condolences to the family.
