Tawnya Watts Spears

Tawnya Watts was born on March 15, 1957, as the first daughter of the marriage between the late Freddie Watts and the late Sandra Ann Hall Watts in Gary, Indiana. She matriculated through the Gary Public Schools Corporation system and graduated with her diploma from Horace Mann High School in 1975. Tawnya attended some college courses and worked at U.S. Steel briefly before marrying Jerome Spears, Sr. and moving to New Orleans, Louisiana. From this union, the late Jerome Spears, Jr. was born. After several years she was divorced from Jerome Spears, Sr., moved back to Gary, IN, and eventually met and married the late Herbert Randolph, Sr. From this union, Saundra Spears (now Sarah Israel) and Janae Randolph were born. The family resided in Tacoma, Washington for many years.In 2006, Tawnya, Saundra, and Janae moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to help raise her granddaughter, Angel Harris. She was employed in the security department at Hilton Hotel in New Orleans until her retirement in 2012. Throughout Tawnya's life, she touched many people with her gentle, loving, and giving soul. She left lasting impressions on everyone she met and could talk to almost anyone about almost anything. Tawnya had an infectious laugh that could brighten up anyone's day. She always stayed up to date with how her loved ones were doing. She loved and was loved by all of her family and friends. It was evident in her life that God had a purpose for her.In September 2020, through the knowledge of the Holy Spirit, it was revealed to her that she was the people of the Bible, she was an Israelite from the Nation (Nationality) of Israel from the Tribe of Judah (same tribe as Christ according to Hebrews 7:14 KJV). She adopted the Hebrew name: Azariah Mesha Israel, which means 'helped by God'. She was an active member of Israel United in Christ, New Orleans, Louisiana until her death.Tawnya was preceded in death by her father, Freddie L. Watts; mother, Sandra Ann Scott; husband, Herbert Randolph, Sr.; son, Jerome Spears, Jr.; brother, Kevin K. McCain Scott; and sister, Darian Denise Watts.She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter: Sarah (Abram) Israel and their children: Malia, Josiah and Asa Israel; her daughter: Janae Randolph (future son-in-law Donaldvon) and her children: Ja'Von and Da'Von Bordes, and Raniya and Jaila Kay; her granddaughter: Angel Harris; her sister: Annisha Scott; her brother: Jamel Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.Visitation Thursday September 5,2024 2:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Funeral Friday September 6, 2024 10:00a.m. All Services at Powell Coleman Funeral Home 3200 W. 15th Ave Gary, In.
