FISK _ Ted October 24, 1923 - August 1, 2003 Passed away at George Boyack Care Center in Calgary, Alberta after a lengthy illness on August 1, 2003. Ted was born in High River, Alberta and attended school in both Blackie and High River. Ted married Ella Fraser on May 5, 1948, in High River. In 1950 he graduated from the University of Alberta with his Bachelor of Education degree. Ted taught school in Lacombe and Mirror, Alta. prior to Ella and him moving to Banff in 1954. Ted taught physical education, English, Science and various other topics until his retirement in 1979. Ted worked most of his summers with the Pullman Railway Co. as an electrician at Banff in the early years. After his retirement from teaching, Ted worked seasonally as a campground attendant for Parks Canada for eight years. Ted and Ella resided in Banff until August of 2000 when health issues necessitated a move to Calgary. Ted raised three sons, Jim (Susan) of Kalispell, Montana, Randy (Terri) Salmon Arm, B.C., Murray (Susan) of Calgary, Alta. He has four grandchildren, Jeff Fisk and Jennifer Angus of Sechelt, B.C., Michael Fisk of Kalispell, Montana and Kevin Fisk of Calgary, Alta.; as well as four great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Sasha, and Cody Angus and Esten Fisk, all of Sechelt, B.C. Ted was predeceased by his loving wife Ella on December 31, 2002. He is survived by one sister, Hazel Bradley of Black Diamond, Alta. He could often be found with a gathering of neighborhood kids flying kites, fielding flies, or playing a game of shinny. Ted was an avid fisherman and eagerly shared his knowledge of local hotspots and instructed fly tying. He was known to enjoy a pint in the local pubs and became somewhat of a legend on the shuffleboard tables. Ted loved to play hockey, and in his day, was quite accomplished. In his later years, Ted enjoyed playing for the Banff Oldtimer's team, and his cagey style of play gained him the nickname of "The Silver Fox". Ted had a great love of music and enjoyed striking up a tune on his harmonica, and looked forward to singing in the Banff Senior Choir. Ted had a great zest for life and love for people and will be sadly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the Snodgrass Funeral Chapel in High River, Alta., Wednesday, August 6, 2003 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at the Highwood Cemetery in High River on Wednesday, August 6 at 3:30 p.m. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Banff Legion on Thursday, August 7, at 3:00 p.m. 014685
