Ted Harrison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 26, 2011.
Ted W. Harrison, 74, of Blake Road, Greeneville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening, August 25, 2011 after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer at Johnson City Medical Center.

He was a former barber and employee of the U.S. Forest Service and retired from Parker-Hanifin.

He was a Trustee and faithful member of Greystone Free Will Baptist Church. His truck was always the first in the parking lot as long as his health permitted.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of Greystone Ruritan Club and was a Bluegrass Music enthusiast. He was a lover of the outdoors and an avid fox hunter and a bench show judge before his declining health. In earlier years, he was a member of Waterfork Baseball Team. He enjoyed gardening after his retirement.

He is survived by a special girlfriend: Kathleen Alexander; two sisters: Marlene Beach of Midway and Judy Harrison of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Terry and Pam Harrison of Greeneville and Lynn and Julia Harrison of Morristown; several nieces, nephews, and special cousins; and a family friend: Edna Rambo.

He was a son of the late Marvin and Kate Blake Harrison and was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Delmont Beach; and a sister-in-law: Nancy Harrison.

The family will receive friends 3-8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church in time for the services on Sunday.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, at Greystone Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Roger Stocton and Rev. Jerry Hopson will officiate.

Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.

His pallbearers are Eddie House, Donnie Wright, Roy Weems, Jeff Beach, T.J. and Ben Harrison, Eddie McCamey, Daniel McCaslin, and Zahnie McCaslin.

Greystone Church and Sunday School Class, Bluegrass Buddies, Fox hunters, his TRW "Parker-Hanifin" friends, and his cousins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Judy may God hold you closer than ever as you go through this time in your life. I only met Ted once but he left an everlasting sweetness of his spirit with me. May you find peace and comfort knowing that this is not the end - just the beginning of true happiness for Ted. I love you and you are in my prayers.

Judy, I have just today leaned of Ted's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family. We did not see each other often but Ted always impressed me as a very kind and gentle man. As has been the ocassion these late years it is in the passing of our loved ones that we come together. My work has been good to me but I often regret leaving there and not getting to know my family better.
