LAFAYETTE - Graveside services were held Monday September 16, 2013 at Fountain Memorial Cemetery for Ted Eugene Hornback, 89 years of age. Carlos Russo officiated.

Survivors include daughter Kay Hornback Dearborn and her husband Buddy Dearborn of Lafayette; son Larry Hornback and his wife Faye of Broussard; three grandchildren, Jason Hornback and his wife Paula, Ryan Hornback and his wife Ashana, and Richard Dearborn of Lafayette; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Tanner and Taj Hornback; and one sister Barbara Hornback Cosper and her husband Bud Cosper of Goliad, Texas.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Jerry Hornback; his parents Levi Edward and Juanita Hornback of Texas; and his sister Majorie McElya of Pearland, Texas.

Ted was born May 3, 1924 in Sherman, Texas and died September 14, 2013 at home in Lafayette, Louisiana. He moved with his family to Lafayette in 1958 with determination to add his expertise and labors to expand the oil industry in South Louisiana. He opened Hornback Caliper and Specialty Company and was president of this entity until he retired to enjoy fishing, hunting, golfing, his many dogs and staying in touch with his oil industry friends.

The family watched him run the race and fight the fight and once he knew his precious dog Bella would be cared for, he declared that he was ready to join his wife Jerry.

The family extends a special thanks to his caregivers Judy, Stella, Jackie and Denise, who walked the walk for him and with him for eight years with compassion and devoted care; to Hospice of Acadiana; and to his extended family and friends.
