Ted Lackey Obituary

Ted F. Lackey, 78, of Morganton, died Wednesday, May 26, 2021.
Born in Burke County, Aug. 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Fred Lee Lackey and Zetta Elizabeth Clark Lackey. Ted was a member of Praise Assembly of God. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mr. Lackey is survived by his wife, Alice Carswell Lackey; children, Dallas Wade Lackey (Nina), Kimberly Denise Chester (Roger), Dwayne Ted Lackey (Rita), Kim Johnson and Carmen Suttles (Doug); grandchildren, William M. Chester (Lauren), Sara L. Fulbright (Kreg), Amanda L. Longoria (Andres), Taylor L. Carswell (Corey), Dalton J. Lackey, Dylan J. Lackey (Stephanie), Aaron Deal, Nick Carter (Sarah), Lyric Tucker and Landon Suttles (Chelsea); great-grandchildren, Kamden, Willa, Kiah, Slater, Nevaeh, Carson, Remi, Athena and Triton; brothers, Tony and Danny Lackey; and his faithful pet, Herbie.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Kathleen C. Lackey; brothers, Jimmy, Jack, James and Larry Lackey; and sisters, Linda Whisnant, Sylvia Clark and Vivian Whisenant.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 29, at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Kevin Crawford officiating. The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
