Raymundo "Ray" Gonzalez, Sr., age 67, entered the Lord's heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Ray was born on December 8, 1955 in Port La Vaca, Texas to Juan Gonzalez & Maria Camero Gonzalez.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Ray was a simple man and enjoyed the little things in life. He was a big family man. He enjoyed relaxing at home, with his wife Gracie by his side. He loved spending time with his family, barbecues, listening to smooth jazz, dancing the night away, or playing with his many grandkids. He was an avid sports fan. He loved talking sports and was a Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan since childhood. He spent almost two decades working at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He was an active member and served at Livingway Family church of Brownsville. Big Ray was a true gentle giant and always knew the right words to say. He will be loved and missed dearly by his family forever.
Ray is survived by his loving family to cherish his wonderful memory, wife of 22 years, Graciela Gonzalez; children, Raymundo Gonzalez Jr. (Annabelle) of Brownsville, Laura Gonzalez (Tricia Altum) of Austin, John Gonzalez of Dallas, Chris Garza of Bryan, David Garza of Tucson, AZ, Daniel Garza (Vianey) of Brownsville, & Cassandra Perez (Joey) of Harlingen; grandchildren, Esteban Gonzalez, Lucas Gonzalez, Jaiden Garza, Ari Garza, Maddison Garza, Alexia Garza, Gavyn Perez, & Zoey Perez; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.
Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
