Teresa K. Cromer

Teresa K. Cromer, 84, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 10 at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church of which she was an active member. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Teresa was born on July 12, 1924 in Johnston City, IL to Joseph and Albina Miller. Following high school, she worked from 1943-1948 in Chicago with the U. S. Treasury Department. During this time she met Wayne E. Cromer at the Trianon Ballroom. They were married September 4, 1948 and continued to dance together for many years as charter members of the Iowa Polka Club. After 1952 Teresa and Wayne made a home for their family in Des Moines. Teresa then resumed her career with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court where she worked for 20 years until retiring in 1986. Teresa is survived by her son, Gary Cromer, M.D. and his wife, Judy Porter of Urbandale; daughter, Debbie Cromer of Denver, CO; and sister, Josephine Monroe of Bonne Terre, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne in May of 2008; three sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel where a prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday.
