Teresa de Dye Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 9, 2024.
Teresa Saelices de Dye, 78, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on May 2, 2024, at Orlando Regional Medical Center from complications sustained from a fall. She was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain on February 7, 1946, to the late Antonio Alemany Peñalva and Dolores Saelices Orellana.

The amazing Teresa Saelices Orellana, married Marvin Joe Dye in Spain on August 22, 1962. A devoted US Navy Chief Petty Officer's wife who followed her husband's 23-year distinguished Naval career spanning many Tours of Duty, both stateside (nuclear subs, Groton, Conn.) and overseas (Rota, Spain; NATO, Portugal). Teresa took on various jobs at Navy bases, often excelling in sales and performance and winning many awards. Teresa met the challenges of being a sailor's wife head-on and was astute at packing up a home at a moment's notice and moving her family across the world. If you know, you know. Incredibly blessed, every other tour was back to Spain, where her children were blessed to grow up knowing Teresa's lovely family in Spain.

A longtime resident of Orlando, Florida, Teresa was a dedicated homemaker and selfless caregiver to her family. Her family came first, always, and forever. Teresa was proud to have achieved US Citizenship on November 14, 2022.

Teresa is survived by her husband Marvin Joe Dye of 62 years; Children, Teresa Diane Dye, Yolanda Lynn Dye, Claudia Calzaretta, and James Javier Dye (Abigail Smith); Siblings, Manuel (Lete) Saelices Orellana (Nena), Antonio (Nino) Saelices Orellana (Mamme), Paulino Saelices Orellana, Silvia Lopez Saelices (Manuel) and Lucy Wedell; Grandchildren, Robert D. Calzaretta Jr (Jasmine), Santina Marie Calzaretta, Carson Dye, and Campbell Dye; Great-Granddaughters, Flora Rose Calzaretta and Celeste Calzaretta (due August 2024); and many nieces and nephews.

Teresa will be remembered for being a selfless and incredible Wife, Mother, Sister, and Grandmother. Teresa will also be fondly remembered for her fantastic cooking, her beautiful smile and contagious laughter, and her cool crochet and knitting projects her family adored and cherished. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Graveside services will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Dr., Winter Park, FL 32789 on May 18, 2024, at 2pm. A Celebration of Life webcast to include Teresa's family and friends near and far, will be held at a later date.

Teresa was an awesome lady. Her family did come first. She was by her daughter, Diane´s side every day working on her beautiful crocheted creations. She could just look at something and create a duplicate of it. She didn´t know a stranger. She loved to laugh and loved people. I will miss her a lot. To Joe and the family I give you my deepest condolences and sympathies. May God bless you all with a peace beyond understanding. Love, Sue Wilson
