Teresa Hamlett

Family and friends mourn the passing of Teresa May "TT" Hamlett ( Jackson), who departed this life on February 17, 2025, in North Chesterfield, Virginia, at the age of 71.

Born on May 18, 1953, in Richmond, Virginia, Teresa was a proud graduate of Meadowbrook High School's Class of 1971. She began her education at Hening Elementary and continued through Huguenot Academy before completing her studies at Meadowbrook. From an early age, Teresa displayed a deep love for music and children-passions that would shape her life's journey.

Teresa began her professional career as secretary to the Vice President of United Virginia Bank. Later, she dedicated over three decades to nurturing young lives as a childcare provider. Her warmth and patience made her a beloved figure to many families. For ten years, she also worked as a housekeeper, bringing care and diligence to every home she touched.

But perhaps Teresa's most cherished roles were those within her own family. She was an extraordinary wife for 53 years and the best mother for 48 years-a title earned through unwavering love and devotion. Her family was the center of her world, and she embraced each member with open arms and an open heart.

She is survived by her devoted husband Wayne; son Gary (Lizzie); daughter Christina (Joey); god-grandchildren Damian, Nathan (Ash), Noah (Abby), Thomas, Leia, Zoey, and Bella; sisters Debby (Scott) and Darlene (Scottie); nieces and nephews Brad (Sarah), Sarah (Chad), Chris, Keith, Lacy (Korey), Joe, and Toni; great-niece and nephews Bryan, Riley, and Gregory; and the best neighbor anyone could ask for-Mary Sargent-who lovingly cared for Teresa in her final days.

She now joins in eternal rest her father John Jackson Sr., mother Nita Jackson, brother Kenny Jackson, nephew John Jackson, grandfather Claude Thomas, grandmother Goldie Thomas, and beloved aunts Sissy/Trisha (Garland).

A woman of many passions, Teresa found joy in beach combing under the sun's warm rays or hiking through nature's quiet paths. She loved camping trips filled with laughter around the firelight. A true hippie at heart with a spiritual soul raised in the Baptist faith, she danced freely to music she adored and played the piano with grace. She crocheted beautiful pieces by hand and delighted in word searches, coloring books, reading novels late into the night, or playing cards and games with family gathered around.

Children gravitated toward Teresa's gentle spirit-she was not only a mother but also a grandmother figure to many beyond her immediate family. Her home was always open; her heart even more so.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in honor of Teresa Hamlett-a woman who lived to help others. She truly was a Mother Teresa to all who knew her: kind-hearted, generous beyond measure, and full of light.
