Terrence Lundy Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Feb. 2 to Feb. 3, 2008.

LUNDY Terrence James (Terry) December 21, 1958 - January 26, 2008. Passed away peacefully at Langley Memorial Hospital on January 26th, 2008 after a brief illness. Terry was raised in Vancouver, spending his summers at Roberts Creek. He settled in Langley on his beloved five acres where he enjoyed his neighbours but cherished his privacy. He is predeceased by his father, Ross Durward Lundy in 1978 and his stepfather Ed Aveling in 2003. He is survived by his loving wife Cindy, sons Dylan and James Okemow, mother Beverley Aveling, brothers Douglas, Ronald and Robert Lundy and sister Heather Travis (Brian), nephew and nieces Luke and Jake Lundy, Jessica and Colin Travis, Anna Lee, Brayden and Coleton Lundy, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many wonderful friends and his faithful dog Charlie. Terry was the middle child of five and was the `conscience' of the family, always making sure everyone was okay. He often remarked how lucky he was to have his beautiful wife, Cindy and his two boys, Dylan and James. He was incredibly proud of his family and never took them for granted. He understood the finer things in life. He and Cindy shared a passion for fishing, and photos from Roberts Creek showcase some of the `beauties' they reeled in over his lifetime. He loved a broad range of music and poetry and was an accomplished guitarist. He loved nature and one of his greatest pleasures, aside from fishing, was to go for walks with Cindy and Charlie. Terry had a lot of friends, many from childhood. Compassionate, honest, and caring, Terry had a real sense of duty to his family and friends. He amazed us all with his sense of humour, even through his pain. He was courageous beyond our expectations and we thank him for all the love and happy memories he has given us. A very special thank you to Dr. Adamson for her exceptional compassion and care, to Nurse Stephanie and all the nurses and staff at Langley Memorial Hospital who helped care for Terry. A private Roberts Creek farewell will be held at a future date. A public celebration of Terry's life will be held at Henderson's Dignity Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser Highway, Langley, BC, V3A 4G6 on Saturday, February 9th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BC Cancer Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.

Wow... Terry's death was a complete shock to us since we lost touch after high school. Our families grew up together where his sister, Heather was one of my best friends! I never even knew that we lived so close to each other. We have been in Langley for 20 years. Sincere love, hugs and loving thoughts to his siblings, mom and everyone else who knew him. It is with regrets that we cannot make the service. Just know that we will be thinking of the "Lundy" family for a long time, but especially on Saturday. Sincerely, Sonya Gulbransen (nee: St-Amand)

A friend you were Terry!I will never forget...from the time you yodelled from the top of an AHN greenhouse, the hearty laugh from the rose field out back, from the time you rushed me to my eye specialist,to the time you called to say that life has it's ways of working itself out-that if a decision felt right then it was the right way to go.You are loved by many Terry and will be missed by us all.We were all lucky to know you and have you in our lives.
My love and thoughts go to your family.

Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. We share comfort in knowing Terrie is no longer suffering and support you as you begin your journey without Terrie. There will always be a big hole there, but try and fill it with memories of the good times you had together and hand down his memories to the younger ones. We are here to support you in your grieving process. We always enjoyed the times spent with you and Terrie. Lots of Love always
