Pastor Terry and Jan were truly the salt of the earth people. My wife children attended their church for 4 years and enjoyed being a part of the family of grace Christian center. They are with the Lord now and that's always a good thing.

I just found out about the deaths of Pastor Terry & Jan Whitley. I met Pastor Terry & Jan in 1980 while my Husband and I was stationed there in Fort Hood. I attended their church from the first visit, and continued until we left from the area 3 years later. My heart is so saddened by their passing, but I know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. They were such exceptional people, loving, caring, and very passionate about their congregation. My condolences and prayers to their entire family.

Though it has been a while now, my wife and I have only today learned of Pastor Terry and Pastor Jan's home-going. Wow, what they have meant to our lives! We met them in 1989 at GCC. I was a 20 year old kid with a wife and 2 babies. I had been ignoring a ministerial call that was on my life, and I had been away from God. The day we walked into Grace we knew it was a special place. As Pastor Terry taught that first Sunday, my heart bore witness that "this" was what I had been looking for. The Word of faith, that day, became home for me. Though we were only there for 20 months because of the military, God established some things in my wife and I that we have held onto ever since. My wife and I laugh at how, for years after being at Grace, when I would ask her a question she would begin with, "well Jan says"....! My, how much she taught us as well. I can honestly say that no two people have ever been the right people, at the right time, in the right place, in our lives more than Pastor Terry and Jan were from December of 1989 to July of 1991. Since our lives and ministry are based in Mississippi, we have only been able to get back to Grace a few times over the years, but Pastor Terry and Jan always somehow recognized and remembered us! We have always wanted to conduct our ministry in such a way that Jesus was pleased first, obviously, but I have always hoped that if they were still in our lives they would be proud of what God is doing with us! That is how much they mean to us! Toby Bryant

I just found your tribute page. I attended Rhema with Terry and was also former law enforcement. He and I became "buds" in Tulsa. Study partners, Rhema Maroon football teammates, and friends. While saddened to learn of their passing, I look forward to our reunion with our Lord. Thank you very much for this page. He and Jan where special people.

From minister Arthur Simmons,
The teaching, preaching, and leadership that these spiritual leaders provided for the ministry, local church, and family about how to depend on the LORD, and look to Him (not humanity/the arm of flesh) for everything, (whether they are here on this earth or not) has cause them to move forward stronger and wiser than before. The ministry, church, and family have continued to grow stronger and wiser because of the foundation and continual training their pastors provided and projected to them. Our God is sovereign, and He gets the glory out of the tragedy the church, ministry, and family went through as Christians. When we (humans) do not know the whys of this life, God gives us (His people) the ability to face and deal with adverse situations, and the power to move forward and grow in spite of the oppositions of this life. I pray that they all will continue to grow at God's speed!

I just learned of Pastor Terry & Jan's tragic accident but the one thing I know and remember Pastor Terry always saying at the end of service was "I know I'm ready, are you" because he wanted to ensure everyone was saved before they walked out of the door! Thank you for all of the wonderful and touching sermons! You all will be missed and I am so sorry I am just learning of this accident.

Terry and Jan. I will never forget you, or what I learned at Grace. Even though it's been many years, don't think that your impact on my life wasn't appreciated. Terry and Jan were my spiritual parents. They literally changed my life. Introduced me to Jesus, fed me the richness of God's word, married my husband (Eric) and I 20 years ago and dedicated our oldest daughter to the Lord. I know they are with Jesus and marveling at everything heaven has to offer. I miss them deeply every day, but I know I will see them again one day !

To my Pastors and friends, Mr. Terry & Mrs. Jan Whitley.
I still can remember the day I became a member of Grace Christian, so long ago. It seemed like yesterday, I remember the day I was asked to visit with them in t back with Pastor Jan; she and I share a piece of Chocolate bar as we talked then Pastor Terry came in the office and shook my hand he then said I remember your face in the community helping and guiding others, I am so proud of you. Pastor Jan said as she was giving me a hug. If you ever need Pastor or I just call us. Every time I called or went to the church they always had time for me. I have many angels in my life, now I can add two more. I can always feel their prayers for me. I will miss them dearly. I just moved to Salado, they were invited to come and BLESS my Home. However, I can still feel their spirit and prayers. I am not alone. I will miss them very much!!!

You've made it home. Oh how the angels rejoice! Jesus is there to welcome you into his holy presence. Our tears are of joy even though you are cherished in our hearts and memories. We loved you but God loved you all best. Rest in eternal peace. We shall meet again!

Three of the most wonderful people we know are now enjoying the splendor of heaven. While we were PCSing to Fort Hood from JBLM, we prayed for a church in Killeen that we would call our home church. God answered our prayer by taking us to Grace. Pastor Terry and Pastor Jan welcomed us with warm hugs and beautiful smiles. That was January 2012 and we became official members soon after. It was just over a year of fellowship but we will always cherish you in our hearts. We also remember Pastor Terry declaring 2013 as a blessed year for it is the year of completion. Indeed, our beloved Pastors, you have completed everything what God wanted you to do. We will always be honored to have you as our shepherds. From our hearts, Moses/Maria, Joshua and Matthew Baglan

“ Somewhere a journey begins at the end of the worldly existence we know,
Somewhere a path stretches over the stars, and rivers of memories flow,
Somewhere a silence is heard far away and the brightness of day fills the night,
Where the trials of life are resolved into peace - - -
When a soul finds its way to the light. “

I cherish the time we were able to have with you. You both were a blessing to our family. After each service my husband would say, "Man, I LOVE Pastor Terry!" That's really big for him. We learned how to really love by watching the wonderful examples you displayed from week to week. Know that you both are loved and adored. Until we meet again pastors...

Our Condolence to the family and church family. My husband and I were blessed to be a part of the Worship Service and meet Pastor Terry and his beautiful wife Jan in July this year.
We told Pastor Terry & Lady Jan that if we lived in Killeen that we would definitely have joined the church that day. Pastor Terry actually gave us a card to join them for dinner and we laughed and said we would be back next year just to have dinner them them :) We are very blessed to have had the opportunity to meet and fellowship with Pastor Terry & Lady Jan. We feel like we've lost a loved one as well. We are confident that we will see them again one day.
Our love and prayers are with their family and church family...we felt the love and oneness in the church the moment we walked in.
Peace and Love,

I may well be the first to send condolences from Hutchinson MN. We are so sad to hear the news of the deaths of Terry and Jan. They were our first Pastors here in Hutchinson in the beginning of Word of Life church some 34 years ago. I remember their enthusiasm and excitement as they ministered in the power of the Holy Spirit. There was a sweet and gentle spirit that they brought, sharing in the love if Jesus. It was a long time ago but they left a wonderful mark here. . They may not have known why Hutchinson... but we are a part of the legacy in their obedience to service. God became real as they obeyed God in loving unconditionally and in being bold about His power. They were fun, faithful, loving to all, and ministered from the heart of God. I am grateful that we were a small part of
their humble beginnings in ministry. They will be missed by a world of souls that received the blessings of their lives. In Heaven together ... How Awesome for them.

My deepest sympathy to you, Steven and Laura, may the Holy Spirit comfort you and your families and members of Grace Christian Center. I am so saddened by the loss of Jan and Terry. I knew your parents way back in 1973 when your dad was with the Belton Police Dept. My son and I attended the same church with them. They were so wonderful and loving. They invited me into their home weekly to pray with them during their personal intercessory prayer time following their leading me into the infilling of the Holy Sprit and getting my heavenly language. They will always have a special place in my heart and my life. Jan spoke with me daily on the phone giving of herself and her time. She and Terry ministered the love of God at a very trying time in my life. I was so excited to find that we were neighbors in Salado. I look forward to seeing them in Heaven.

Pastors Terry and Jan ministered to me many years ago when they came to our church in St. Cloud, MN. That ministry changed my life forever! When I told Jan a few years later how my life had changed, she said "You are one of our trophies...could you come to our church and tell our people how your life changed?" I never made it to Tx, but I believe Pastor Terry and Jan have thousands of trophies around the world! My heart is heavy, but I look forward to seeing them in heaven! I have been praying for their families, their church, and for my former pastor, Brian Gobar. He considered Pastor Terry his pastor and great friend, and to him, as to so many, this loss is immeasurable!

4 Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God.

My heart, prayers and love goes out to their family. As with Pastor Jan, I truly was blessed and honored to say I sat under Pastor Whitley's leadership. I can't think of anyone I have more respect for when it comes to Pastors'. They both made an indelible mark on my life and I will always consider them to be my Pastors. Love in Christ, Barbara Jones, Temple, TX

So sorry to hear about Pastors Terry and Jan. I was blessed to call both of them my friends. They were so special to me and many other military families who were stationed at Ft. Hood, as well as to those who called Killeen home. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those at Grace Christian Center and to Jan and Terry's children and their families. Pastor Terry was a wonderful example of what a godly man and brother in Christ looks like and he will be dearly missed by a grateful community. Finally home in His Savior's arms... May God be with the the greiving community in Killeen.

I pray in what has to be one of the most difficult times your family and congregation has ever gone through that the power of the Holy Spirit's comfort & peace will rule & reign in all of your hearts. This time of separation will only be for a season with a glorious reunion around the corner. Rev 22:7 "Behold I am coming quickly"
