Terry K. Baum, beloved husband, father, and brother left this earth on Saturday,
January 14, 2023, to be with his father, William Baum, mother, Helen Baum, sisters
Judith Baum and Diane Mollenkamp. Terry was an active patriot, even from an early
age, when he was a fire cadet as a teenager. He was proud of his service in the Boy
Scouts of America. Continuing his patriotic service, he enlisted in the Army in 1974,
and served his country for 8 years. Terry spent 30 years in civil service from 1982 –
2012, when he retired from civil duty. He joined the Army National Guard in 1982 and
retired in 2012. Terry spent more than 37 years as a volunteer fire fighter. He was the
Fire Chief at the Roby Fire Department in Roby, MO for 3 years and served as the
volunteer Safety Officer for the St. Robert City Fire & Rescue for 7 years. During his
military service, Terry participated in the failed Iranian Hostage Rescue Mission, about a
year before Ronald Regan became president.
Terry always loved trains, fire trucks, and was an avid prankster. He was a caring and
loving husband to his wife of 30 years, Julia Baum. He and Julia went on many
adventures together during their marriage. They’ve traveled to the Caribbean,
vacationed in Colorado (a few times), took a trip to Alaska with Julie’s sister and Terry’s
cousin, and spent time in Florida celebrating with friends. Terry and Julia spent time
traveling to Michigan, Missouri, and Nebraska to visit family and friends. Often, they
would “road trip” to Springfield, MO to dine at Nakato’s Japanese Steakhouse where
Terry would sip, uhhhh, shoot Sake.
Terry is survived by his wife, Julia and his brother, Bill (Jan) Baum, his children, Amy
Baum, Jason Baum, and Kevin Baum, Julia’s children, Julie (Gary) Smith, Georgette
Russell, and Raymond (Alicyn) Johnson, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Terry has many beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins. All will miss his pranks and
laughter. Terry was preceded in death by his father, William, mother, Helen, sisters,
Judith and Diane, and one granddaughter, Kathleen Ann Johnson.

Rest Terry, until you hear at dawn, the low, clear reveille of God. Thank you for your service to this nation. U.S. Army, 8 years, and Kansas Army National Guard, 30 years.
