Terry Jones Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 29, 2015.

Terry A. Jones, 62, of Lake Helen went on to be with the Lord September 25, 2015 at Florida Hospital DeLand. He was born in Livingston Manor, New York on November 10, 1952 and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Terry was employed for over 25 years at Medtronic in DeLand. Prior to his career at Medtronic he was a Bail Bondsman in Daytona Beach, Florida. Terry was a member of Blake Memorial Baptist Church in Lake Helen, the Georgia Hunt Club and men's Thursday night bowling league. Terry loved anything outdoors, especially camping with his lovely wife, Mary. He also raced street stock cars and was known as "Terrifying Terry Jones" at New Smyrna Beach Speedway, along with his Uncle Butch. He enjoyed woodworking, researching geneology, playing softball and hunting with his cousin and best friend, Brian Jones. Most of all, he was the best husband and father and family always came first. Terry was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Delores Jones. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary; daughters Yvonne Burton (Darin) of Port Orange and Erin Martinez (David) of Holly Hill; sisters Geraldine McKune (Morris) of TX, Lois Jones of NY, Billie Jo Marvin (Chris) of AL, Gladys Palmer (Roger) of NY and Tina Jones of NY; grandchildren Courtney Wooleyhan, Chelsea Burton and Valin Martinez and great-grandsons, Jack Brock and Jett Maldovan. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 2nd from 4-6pm at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand. The memorial service, with full military honors, will follow at 6pm, with Pastor Tony Wilshon officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.allensummerhill.com. Allen-Summerhill DeLand is in charge.

We do not always understand the timing when it comes to the continued journey of one we love, but in Christ, we can hold onto the ever present hope of eternity together... With our bodies perfected and the pure joy of truly living in the presence of God with those who went before us! May the Holy Spirit comfort you all as you walk through the process of saying good-bye for now! With love and prayers,
