Ernest E. Langner

Ernest E Langner, born in Mobile, AL December 15,1914, passed away on February 11, 2014. He was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church, Life Deacon at Powderly Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and National Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He had attended Jones Valley High School and was co-owner of Dixie Neon Sign Company. He was a devoted Alabama fan for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents W. R. & Abbie Langner, his wife of 56 years Mildred Elder Langner and second wife of 9 years, Mary Pitts Langner, son, Dr. E. Eugene Langner, sisters, Inez Ray, Lucille Owen, brothers, W. R Langner, Jr., Oliver Langner and Clyde Langner. Survivors include daughter, Gail Scruggs (Jim) , Granddaughters, Kim Southerland, Kathryn Wall (Rob), Karen Davis(Danny),Merrigail Copeland, and Michelle Ruckman (Sean), Great- grandchildren, Abby Sanders (Josh), Kelsey Southerland, Karoline Hennessee, Kaitlyn Hennessee, Kylie Wall, Elizabeth Davis, Carter Copeland, Michael Ruckman, Sean Ruckman, Julia Ruckman, Step-daughter, Mary Jane Allen (Chuck) step- grandchildren Kelly Bass (Gregg), Mitchell Allen (Mary Kathryn), Step- grandchildren Cameron and Tyler Bass, Mary Coleman , McLain, and Mallory Allen. Visitation will be held at Shades Crest Baptist Church from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, February 14, 2014, with funeral services following, Dr. Brian Lee and Dr. James A Auchmuty officiating. Interment will follow services at Valhalla Cemetery in Midfield. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Shades Crest Baptist Church Found Faithful Building Fund.
