Terry Mingus

Terry Mingus, age 66, died at St. Michael's Medical Center in Silverdale Washington on April 14, 2025. Born in Tampa, Florida, Hawaii became home at age 14 when his family put down roots in Kailua on Oahu. Terry's life was spent sharing his love of music with family and friends, from early days with choir members at Kailua United Methodist Church, with classmates at Kalaheo High School (c/o 1976), and at various music venues in Hawaii and across the mainland. His life journey took him to many places, but Washington and Hawaii were his true home states.

Terry was a beautiful spirit, a gifted musician, a loving soul and a kind true friend to all who met him throughout this life. During Terry's fight with advanced COPD and lung cancer, his faith never wavered as he fixed his eyes on the prize of the upward calling in Christ Jesus, his Lord and Savior.

Preceded in death by father William(Bill) Mingus, mother Valeria (Black) Standley, sister Charlene and brother Gaylon, Terry is survived by his wife Elizabeth Keith, daughter Tamara (Trumbo) Standley , brothers Glendon (Jerry) and Sheldon (Cheryl), sisters DeAnna and Joy and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and scattering of ashes will be held in Kailua on Oahu, date and time TBA.

Memorial donations can be made to MercuryOne, as Terry loved his country and was a true patriot, passionate in preserving our constitutional heritage. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Morton (DD-948) and was stationed at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu.
