Thérèse DOMPIERRE Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Oct. 1, 2016.
DOMPIERRE, Thérèse (née Gauthier)
On September 27, 2016, at the age of 86, Thérèse passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She now walks hand in hand with her late husband, Richard Dompierre, who passed away in 2012. She leaves behind her four loving children and their spouses Carole (Bill), Julie (Stuart), Daniel (Karen) and Roxanne (Chris). An extraordinary grandma and "mémère", she will be greatly missed by her nine grandchildren Allyson, Nicholas, Troy, Stephanie, Richard, Patrick, Jacob, Geneviève and Isabelle. She will also be missed by her brother Claude, many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters/brothers-in-law and friends. Special thanks to her cousin Huguette for her many years of love and support, to the wonderful staff of the Chartwell Empress Kanata, where she lived for the past four years and to the caring professionals at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital. A celebration of her life will be held at Tubman Funeral Home Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean, Ontario, on October 8, 2016. The family will receive relatives and friends at 10:00, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 and a reception at noon. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Mom, a year ago today, you left us. You are in my thoughts so often, particularly when we are up at the cottage as it was your favorite place in the world. I know you and dad are watching over us. I miss et je t'aime.

Carole, Julie, Danny and Roxanne
Our deepest sympathies go out to all of you. I know you will miss her terribly, but knowing that she now remembers you all and that she is with her precious Richard seems to make this "departure" just a little less sad. Your mom was one of the warmest, happiest, kindest most gentle woman we ever had the privilege of knowing. She will remain in our hearts as well as she touch each one of us. May you find peace in all the wonderful memories that you have in your hearts. Love The Kavanaghs

Mémère, you might not know it, but you were a great influence on me in ways no one else was. Your constant happiness and love of life have shown me that every day should be lived with a bounce in your step and a light in your heart. My sisters may have spent more time around you than I did, but I hope you know that everytime I came to give you a kiss as you entered through the front door before anything else, it's because I knew every last moment with you should be cherished. Although it pains me to see the flame blow out on a candle that burned so brightly, the image of the its brilliance will forever imprint itself in our minds, the feeling of its warmth will forever be felt in our hearts. I love you (a bushel and a peck!), Mémère.

Words are not enough to express the void your passing leaves. You were an incredible wife, mother, grand-mother and friend and the positive spirit you had, even in illness, were inspiring to all who knew you. Your legacy will live on for a very long time. Your proud and loving daughter, Roxanne

Aunt Therese, you were one of the most special people in my life. And always will be. Your marriage and the amazing family that you raised should be the gold standard everywhere. I had so many special memories with you growing up from the early days of you living next door in South March, to your teaching me some of your wonderful cooking techniques. To just enjoying your company at the cottage. I will never forget any of these. You are one of the kindest most gentle souls in our world. All my love always.
