Thelma Luke

ALAPAHA —Thelma G. Luke, 83, of Alapaha died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Berrien Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Church with the Rev. Jackie Connell officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Luke Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.Mrs. Luke was born May 15, 1925 in Berrien County to the late Henry Giddens and Belle Moore Giddens. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Luke, who died Feb 3, 1995, and 10 brothers and sisters.A loving wife, mother, grandmother and devoted Christian, her greatest joy was taking care of her family. She was an active member of Pleasant Hill Church. Mrs. Luke is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terrell and Terry Luke of Palatka, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia L. and Jimmy Roberts of Alapaha; grandchildren, John Paul and Jenny Luke of Deltona, Fla., and Jeremy Luke Roberts of Alapaha; great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Morgan Luke of Deltona, Fla.; sister, Lois Bush of Starke, Fla.; and many special nieces and nephews.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be donated to Hospice of Tift Area or Southern Care Hospice. Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
