Theodore Bittl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 5 to Nov. 6, 2016.
Theodore Gerald Bittl

Ventura, CA

Theodore "Ted" Gerald Bittl lost his battle with cancer at the age of 56 and passed away on Monday, November 01, 2016. He was born on March 11, 1960 in Oxnard, CA to Gerald and Lucienne Bittl.

Ted grew up in Ventura County, CA. He graduated from Buena High School in Ventura, CA in 1978. After high school, he attended Ventura College.

Ted was a self-made man, a caregiver who showed compassion for others, well known, well-loved and inspired by life's events. He lived life by his own design - devoid of doubt or distraction. He appreciated life to the fullest, had the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what he encountered.

Ted was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching sport events, concerts, spending time with family, traveling to Las Vegas, Laughlin and fishing.

Ted was survived by his parents Gerald and Lucienne Bittl; his brothers; James P. Bittl and Dr. John A. Bittl, sister-in-law, Jean Bittl; sister Ann Bittl and his loving niece, Allie and nephew, James Frances Bittl.

A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, November 14, 2016.

My deepest sympathy to all of Ted's family. I am both shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.
I first met Ted at a difficult time in my life. I feel so fortunate to say I knew him, his infectious smile and kind manner will never be forgotten. I can honestly say Ted is the most real, down to earth gentle soul I know.
Heaven may have a new angel but it is a huge loss that earth lost an amazing man.
I hope you are at peace Ted and that we will meet again
Love and sympathy to those who knew him.

RIP Ted and my deepest sympathies to the family. I knew Ted thru Ventura Bowling Center. He was a Tuesday league bowler, always looking to help bring new bowlers into the center. He would show up a little early, walk in the back bar door with a newspaper, order a large soda and ask for the TV to be changed to a certain station. He liked bowling on the first few pair of lanes so he could go back and forth watching the TV. Ted, you were always a very kind person and will be remember by that too!

Ted was the most direct man I knew - in speech, thought, eye contact, smile, and passion for anything he invited me to do! I hadn't seen him around lately but just figured he had found other pursuits. My heart ached as I read the obituary, angry that cancer had again chosen an undeserving soul, but thankfully is powerless in Heaven.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ted's family. I knew Ted through the bowling leagues at VBC and enjoyed his company and competitive spirit. He may not have been the best bowler, but you could count on him to always give it his best. RIP Ted, you will be missed.
