Theodore "Ted" Kostiuk
February 18, 1924 - June 2, 2015
Ted passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Alvena and was the youngest member of his family. He attended Kiev Country School and farmed all his life in Alvena district until he retired to Saskatoon in 2011, he then lived in St. Volodymyr Villa until his death. On October 25, 1947 he married Marilyne Bayda and they had three children - son Terry and daughters Patricia (Ali) Rahmani and Elaine Buhler, who all grieve his loss. He is also deeply missed by his grandchildren Blair (Barbara) Kostiuk, Michael (Sarah) Kostiuk, Alyssa (Joe) Lalor, Ziad "Zee" Rahmani, Adam Rahmani, Jordon Rahmani, Evan Buhler and Anika Buhler; great-grandchildren Lucas, Noah and Mia Kostiuk, Royal and Amelia Kostiuk, and Christopher Lalor; as well as numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces, all his neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Simon and Doris; six brothers and six sisters-in-law, John (Helen), George (Ann), Metro (Mary), Mike (Olga), Steve (Mary) and Alex (Mary); and three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Emily (Dan) Kurysh, Mary (John) Chelak and Belle (Harry) Thiesen. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (279 - 3rd Ave North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8) or the Lung Association of Saskatchewan (1231 - 8th St East, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5). The Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5th and the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6th, both services will be held at St. Volodymyr Villa Chapel (3102 Louise Plc). Sincere condolences to Auntie Marilyne, Terry, Patricia & Ali, and Elaine. Uncle Ted was a kind, gentle man. Visiting on the farm is one of my fondest childhood memories. May he rest in peace. So sorry I could not attend the services. May you find ways to celebrate his life.
