Theodore "Ted" Satterwhite

Theodore "Ted" Satterwhite, 87, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on July 23, 2024. Born on September 16, 1936, in Wedowee, Alabama, Ted served honorably in the United States Army before embarking on a distinguished career. He retired from General Motors and showcased his culinary skills as a chef at Howard Johnson.

Ted's passions included cooking, dancing, playing music, and cherishing moments with his extensive family. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Annie Satterwhite, and their children: Larry (Kim), Theodore Jr., Lea (Roy), Arnold, Sibyl, and Deontay (Devonna) Satterwhite, all of Dayton. He is also survived by his brother Arris of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters Mary (Dwight) and Bobbie Senter of Dayton, Ohio, and Maggie Cosby of Atlanta, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, with special mention to Roderick Jr., Tedria, and Chauncey; 31 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Ted was a godfather to Mildred Scott and Sarita (James) Turkey, and he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special gratitude is extended to Hospice of Dayton and Miami Valley Hospital, with a heartfelt thanks to his daughter Sibyl for her unwavering support during his illness.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, and two grandchildren, Lertisha and Austin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on August 7, 2024, at Thomas Funeral Home, located at 4520 Salem Ave, Dayton, Ohio. The family extends their gratitude to Thomas Funeral Home for their compassionate assistance during this difficult time.
