Theodore C. Taylor

Fort Defiance - Theodore Clark "Ted" Taylor, 75, husband of Nancy (Lightner) Taylor of 237 Pine Top Road, Fort Defiance, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Taylor was born on February 6, 1942 in Dunmore, West Virginia, a son of the late Emmet and Georgia (McLaughlin) Taylor.

Ted attended Verona United Methodist Church, he was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and retired in 2007 from the I.R.S. as an accountant with forty-two years of service. Ted enjoyed working on automobiles, mowing, fishing and all outdoor activities.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Jack Wimer and Edmund Funkhouser; and his mother-in-law, Evelyn D. Lightner.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty years, are two sons, Gregory Clark Taylor and his wife Jessica of Crimora and Bradley Aaron Taylor of Verona; a daughter, Stacy Lane Atkins and her boyfriend, Brad Conner of Staunton; seven grand-children, Alyssa Shiflett Taylor and boyfriend Nathan Brown, Seth Taylor, Ava Taylor, Dylan Atkins, Brooke Atkins, Walynn Taylor and Presley Taylor; a great-granddaughter, Payton Brown; two brothers, Jerry E. Taylor and wife Elke of Dunmore, West Virginia and Ralph A. Taylor and wife Ruby of Crozet; three sisters, Jean T. Wimer of Harrisonburg, Suellen T. Cosby and husband Donald of Richmond and Betty T. Funkhouser of Buena Vista; a brother-in-law, Thomas "Tom" Lightner and wife Marcia of Huntington, West Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lester Kennedy and Rev. Jeff Allen.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Verona United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 47, Verona, Virginia 24482.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.

we were so sorry to hear this awful news.we all remember how he would make use laugh and were so happy to know when he was going to visit.such good memories! I know he we be missed by many.

So sorry for your loss.I will miss his smile and the laughter from all the stories he could tell.No one could tell stories like him except grandpa. He would have us all laughing until we were crying.
He was alway there for everyone and always lend a helping hand. We will truly miss you Uncle Teddy! Sending our thoughts and prayers to you Aunt Nancy,Greg,Brad and Stacy and your families.
