Theodore (Ted) Vorce, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2023.
Proud Navy Veteran of 30 years passed peacefully on September 20, 2023 surrounded by his loving children, and family. Born in Medina, OH on September 30, 1950. The son of Theodore and Lucy. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Lucy, Brothers, Tracy and Wayne Sister Gloria and his first wife of 27 years Sonja (d. 2010). Ted is survived by his sisters Lynn (Earl) Lennox, Tanya (Rey) Alcantara. His daughters Shawna (Eddie) Crozier, Tedilee Chiara (Mark), TeAtta (Greg) Mercado, along with his very special "bonus" daughter Bernice (Marcial) Martin. Grandchildren Brittny Cobb, John (JC) Confalone, Marah Chiara, Griffin Harrison, Madison Harrell, Braydon Chaira and Tyler Berry. Great grandchildren Noah , Bayleigh and Sonja . Along with host of Nieces and Nephews and his beloved dog Harley and cat Honey Bee.

Retiring at the rank of Master Chief in 2000. Ted continued to dedicate his time serving his fellow shipmates by serving as Base Commander for the Hampton Roads Base US Submarine Veterans, Inc. until the time of his passing. Ted was a lifelong mentor to many who began their military careers under his tutelage. Ted enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his lifelong shipmates. Known to be the life of the party, which was evident with his many gatherings at his home in Chesapeake, VA. He was the John Wayne of today with a personality bigger than life. He will be enjoying his Green Bay Packers now alongside his mother.

Please join his family and friends for a true Celebration of Life on Friday 17 Nov 2023 from 3-6pm at the American Legion Tidewater Post 327 located at 705 Lesner Ave, Norfolk VA 23518

My sincerest condolences; I met Ted in 1987 when he was my LCPO at CINCLANT. Always willing to lend a hand when he let me use his truck to haul my Bug from Woodbridge to VA Beach. Rest in Peace, good brother and mentor! DPC(SW/AW) Al Gibbs (retired).

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I did not know Ted personally, but he was a submarine brother, and richly deserves to have his life celebrated. Sailor, rest your oar, your shipmates have the watch.

Master Chief Vorce was our Chief of the boat (COB) on the Rickover SSN-709. He always went to bat for the crew, was well respected and fair. His name was mentioned many times this weekend during the commissioning gatherings for the Rickover SSN-795.

I was 5 years younger than Ted but I remember he had a great sense of humor and a great smile. He loved his family and it showed.

Was proud to have served with Ted aboard the USS Atlanta SSN-712 and USS Hyman G. Rickover SSN-709. He was the most dedicated sailor I had the honor of serving with and he will truly be missed by all.

Something that reminds me of grandpa is Willie´s Roadhouse on SiriusXM. He´d always sing along and tap his finger on the steering wheel.
