Vaughn II, Theodore N. 8/20/1935 - 3/4/2020 Venice, Florida Theodore Nelson Vaughn II, born in Gary, Indiana on August 20, 1935, departed this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 (84) in Venice Florida. Ted graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955 and received his Bachelor's Degrees in Accounting & Business Administration from Northwestern University in 1962. From there, received his Master's Degree in Finance from Western Michigan University in 1972. He started his career with Inland Steel Company of Chicago 1962 – 1967, Teledyne Continental Motors, Muskegon, Michigan 1967 – 1970, Steelcase Inc., Grand Rapids, Michigan 1970 – 1994 and was Vice President & Treasurer of VKV Inc. (dba Tolman's Wholesale Meats) from 1995 – present. Ted also enjoyed teaching business and finance classes at west Michigan local colleges and the lake shore area. Ted's natural energy exuded himself, always staying active by traveling the world, boating and kayaking and serving his community. He was the original Board Treasurer for his Venice Homeowner's Association where he maintained that role for several terms. His most rewarding experiences were spent mentoring young men with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He was actively engaged with the Democratic National Party and was a Michigan delegate at the 1972 Democratic Convention. He is survived by his sister, Greta Brown of Minneapolis, Minnesota; the love of his life, Linda Browne of Venice, Florida; his five children Peggy L.Vaughn of Lansing, Michigan, Theodore N. (Kathie) Vaughn of Caledonia, Michigan, Eric R. (Jill) Vaughn of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Karyn S. Vaughn of Byron Center, Michigan, Dana M. Vaughn-Farrell of Troy, Michigan; and the mother of his children, Alice Gibson of Troy, Michigan. Ted is also survived by grandchildren Ryan Johnson, Brandon Pierce, Aryn Warpehoski, Teddy Vaughn IV, Devon Vaughn, Christian Doyle, Hana Vaughn, Anthony Payne, Alexa Vaughn, Nicholas Payne, Britton Farrell, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many extended family members. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore N. Vaughn and Posie B. Vaughn and his sister, Peggy A. Vaughn. A Memorial Service was held in Venice, Florida on March 8th. There will be a Memorial Service held in Michigan. Date and Location to determined. In lieu of cards and flowers, donations can be made to the Michigan Multiple Sclerosis Society. I feel fortunate to have known Ted for many, many years. He was such a kind gentleman. I saw up close what a wonderful friend he was and father to his children. Always a smile on his face and optimistic, happy spirit. Prayers to his family and friends that will miss him so much.
