Theresa Carter, 96, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Friday June 1, 2018 at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA. Theresa was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, NY and lived in Holiday City South in Berkeley Township, NJ for 24 years before moving to Virginia in 2010. She was a bookkeeper for the Pierpont Hotel and Polytechnic Institute of NY in Brooklyn.

Theresa was predeceased by her husband Henry E. Carter, Jr. in 1998.

She is survived by her son Richard Carter and his wife Carol; her daughter Joan Carter-Holmes and her husband Al ; her grandchildren, Kenneth Carter and his wife Michelle, Keith Carter and his wife Kristie; Scott Carter and his wife Lesley and Brett A. R. Holmes; and great-grandchildren Jackson, Ryan, Katelyn and Quinn.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am with a funeral service to held at 11:30 am at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to James River Hospice 9100 Arboretum Parkway, Richmond, VA 23236 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude's Place Memphis, TN 38105.
