Theresa May Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 4, 2025.
Theresa A. May, a longtime resident of Nanuet, passed away peacefully at her home in West Nyack with family by her side on July 30, 2025.

Born Theresa Ann Fontana to Anthony and Kathryn Fontana, she graduated from Davis High School in Mount Vernon in 1953. It was there she met and later married her husband, Frank J. May. They were married on December 15, 1957, and honeymooned in Bermuda.

While raising her family, Theresa earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from Rockland Community College in 1976. She devoted more than 40 years of service to the nursing field, working as a Registered Nurse, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Director of Nursing at both Elmwood Manor and Tolstoy Nursing Homes.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank; her children Kathy (Paul), Joe (Terry), Patty (Bob), Frankie, and Jeanne (Michael); her grandchildren Paul, Chris, Chris, Nick, and Lindsay; and great-grandchildren Brady and Savannah. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Frankie, Anthony, Camela, Doris, and Janet.

Theresa will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and love of life. She found joy in cooking, listening to country music, collecting Barbie dolls, visiting the Jersey Shore and Atlantic City, cheering for the New York Yankees, and most of all, spending time with her family.
