Therese M. Heinrich SLATON-A rosary service for Therese Heinrich, 77, of Slaton will be Monday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. in Englunds Chapel with Deacon Randy Canale leading. A celebration of life mass will be held Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Cathedral with Fr. Bill Anton as celebrant. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Therese was born in Jourdanton, but grew up in Kerrville, Texas. Therese graduated from Alice High School in 1954. On Aug. 8, 1959, Therese married Roy Lee Heinrich in Alice, Texas. She had been a resident of the Slaton area since their marriage. Therese owned Heinrich Interiors, where for over 20 years she made beautiful custom draperies. Her work was so well-known that she not only served the surrounding areas, but as far as Amarillo and Dallas. Due to the quality of her work and the attention to detail, she always had an ample supply of clients. She loved her family, gardening, canning, and was a wonderful cook. She had recipes published in the Southern Living Cookbook and various other publications. Therese was a recent member of Christ the King Cathedral and was an active member of Catholic Daughters and Altar Society at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Slaton, Texas. Most neighbors, friends and family would witness a classic love story between Therese and the love of her life, Roy Lee. It wasn't unusual to see Therese by Roy Lee's side feeding their horses, tending to their cattle, or finishing up at dusk riding together on the tractor. Toward the later years, you would see Roy Lee taking care of the love of his life, Therese, by tending to her needs and being by her side. Her son, Dean Heinrich, preceded her in death on June 15, 1998; as did two grandsons, Caleb Heinrich on May 10, 2008, and Landon Ehlers on March 18, 2013. Her cherished survivors include her husband, Roy Lee of Slaton; sons, Burt Heinrich and wife Shelley, Clif Heinrich and wife Kelly, all of Lubbock, and Eric Heinrich and wife Margaret; daughter, Trina Ehlers and husband Gordon, all of Slaton. Her siblings include Betty Opiela of Corpus Christi, Texas, John Robert Bacak of Nancha, Texas, James Bacak of Burton, Texas, Sister Rose Ann Bacak, SSND of Chatawa, Miss., Hank Bacak of Carrollton, Texas, Sister Barbara Bacak, SSND of Dallas, Texas, and Tommy Bacak of Richmond, Texas; along with 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
