Thomas BROWN Obituary
With deep sorrow, the family of Thomas Brown announces his passing, peacefully at age 40 on May 16, 2017, surrounded by loving family and loyal friends. A devoted husband to Michèle and dearest dad to Abigail, Tom will be missed by his father Graham and mother Pamela, sisters Johanne (Kirk Albert) and Leslie (Mark Hanna) and his entire extended family. Tom lived a big life; he was kind and fiercely loyal, a patriot and a soldier, an adventurous soul whose travels and talents took him around the world. Tom had "golden ears" and a supreme gift for music, earning nationwide acclaim as Pipe Major Sgt. with the Canadian Armed Forces Band, touring the world and performing to thousands as a bagpiper in Gaelic Storm, as tour manager for Kathleen Edwards, and as a sound engineer for countless others in studio and on stage. Family came first to Tom, and he considered his friends to be family. He brought people together with his ideas, his energy and his irresistible spirit. Every day was a celebration. Tom's family wishes to thank the many nurses and doctors at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus ICU for the kindness and compassion they provided to Tom during his final days. I knew Tom way back in the day as a fellow CameronHighlander Cadet. Another fellow cadet recently told me of his passing. Please allow me leave my condolences. He was too young and full of life to be taken.

Young Tom registered to become an audio engineer, 20 years ago.
He was right there with the top students, and I understand he used his skills very well.
He was a pleasure to know. Honest, willing and able. Tragic , that he left us so young.

Dear Michele and family,
I was so sorry to learn of Tom's passing. I spent a week with Tom and the Ottawa Police Pipe Band in Scotland last August and experienced his determination to succeed and his passion for piping and pipe bands. Although in obvious discomfort, he never let it affect his role with the band. He fought through pain and embraced every day with strength and a positive outlook. May you receive comfort from the many happy memories you have.

I went to high school with Tom. He was a great guy! Never stopped smiling . I remember how amazing it was when he wore his kilt to our prom. He was friendly , funny , and talented. Taken way too soon. My condolences to his family. RIP :(
