Dear Michelle, Abbey, Alex and the extended Caspar Family,

How do we begin to express our deepest sympathies over the passing of our friend Tom? Over the years and most of our adult lives, Michelle and Tom (and eventually Abbey and Alex) along with Vince and Myra Haas (and kids) became part of our family. Anytime we would talk about "Supper Club" with other friends and family members, they all knew who belonged to this small and wonderful "club". We will always cherish the start of this incredible journey with the Steeler game in 1988. We then started vacationing together (Myrtle Beach being a favorite); beginning the "Club" (where late night board games turned into afternoon supper once the kids arrived); going camping together (who could forget the "primitive area"?!, mountain pies, or, as the Haas's mentioned, "You can leave, or you can leave with a citation"); partying at all of the fun weddings (didn't we always start the Party Train?!)- there's so much more! All of the fun memories (too many to mention) will always be a part of our lives.

Tom - we pray that you have finally found your peace in this world and we will miss you.

Michelle, Abbey and Alex - we are always here for you. We love you and you can always count on us.

"Land Shark, land shark!" ..... unfortunately no one is there to answer the door. Figure the odds.....

Dear Joyce and Family: Neil and I are so sorry for the loss of your brother. We understand on many levels the sorrow that you are experiencing, because of also losing a brother at a young age. We are here if you need anything Joyce... You are in our prayers and we pray for God to comfort you and your entire family during this difficult time.

Tom, Tom, Tom…..

Where do we start? There are so many memories, there isn’t enough room on this website. We’ll never forget our cruise to Bermuda (hanging spoons on our noses at the formal dinner); the many parities and picnics (line dancing through the house and sleepovers); late-night breakfasts after last call (my mother can cook breakfast faster than this); the early Supper Clubs when we had Chili and Stuffed Peppers; the eventful camping trip to Keystone State Park (you can leave now, or leave with a citation) when we ended up at Bush Run (no showers – yuck!); all the other camping trips where eating was our main activity (diners featuring Debbie’s Franco American spaghetti/hot dog delight and mountain pies for late night snack while sitting around the camp fire); even when we were rained out (which was most of the time) we had a good time (we felt like drowned rats going out to breakfast after packing up in the rain); all the Supper Clubs when we tried to make sure that there was Thousand Island Dressing just for you, and heaven forbid anything made with sour cream, cream cheese, mayonnaise or chocolate (we never did finish those by-laws); all the fun vacations (Caspar the Ghost, Southern Comfort, Red Bomber and all of us driving to Myrtle…..the trek back from Breezewood to Pittsburgh was the longest 2 hours of our lives); your friend “the Colonel” in charge of the parking garage at that gross condo in Ocean City; the “incident” in the parking lot after the Starr’s wedding; Halloween and New Year's Eve celebrations at Seven Springs (Myra getting tired), we could go on and on… You were a good friend and one of the few people that understood and appreciated Vince’s dry sense of humor - you laughed at everything he said. Although we hadn’t seen you recently, we never stopped thinking about you and praying for you. Our lives are more fulfilled for having known you and for the good fortune of your friendship. We will never forget you and the many good times we had together over the years…we only wish that it hadn’t ended so soon! Things didn’t turn out the way we had hoped, but God’s will is not always what we want. We pray that you are at peace now and know that we will always look out for Michelle and Abbey and Alex. Tom, our beloved friend, you will always have a place in our hearts and at our table.

To Tom's family: I am very sorry for your loss. Tom touched many lives and those who knew him will remember his good qualities always. He had many. His children lost a father who loved them very much. May we all do what we can to ensure they always know their father and how much he loved them.
