Thomas Clark Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 5, 2025.
Thomas Gerald "Tom" Clark, age 87, of Fishers, New York, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Living Center at Geneva South in Geneva, New York. He was born on February 15, 1937, in Rochester, New York, to the late Walter and Julia Clark.

Tom was a man who found joy in connection and activity. Whether spending time with his wife Jackie at their homestead in Fishers, gathering with family and delighting in the laughter of children and dogs, or meeting new friends during his walks or work, Tom cherished being with others. He was never one to sit still and enjoyed keeping busy with part-time jobs and hobbies such as model building, reading, and working in his garage workshop.

A dedicated public servant, Tom served the community for 20 years as a City of Rochester Police Officer from 1961 to 1981. His career included roles as Officer Friendly, a Police K-9 officer, and a traffic officer stationed at the bustling intersection of Main and Clinton in downtown Rochester. After retiring from the police force, he continued to contribute through roles at St. John Fisher College and the former Sykes Datatronics.

Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Merlyn Louise Clark; his brothers Donald Clark (and sister-in-law Teddy) and Walter Clark Jr. (and sister-in-law Betty).

He is survived by his loving wife Mary "Jackie" Clark; his sons Daniel (Carole), Stephen (Amy), and Jeffrey (Kristen); his sisters Carol Fumia and Sue Boldt; stepchildren Michael Hall (Cheri) and Patricia Derycke; grandchildren Jessica, Ryan, Gavin, Cassandra, Justin, Julia; great-grandchildren Brynn and Emma; step-grandchildren Sophia and Nathan Hall, Briana Abbott, and Michael Derycke; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Tom's life is being planned and will be announced at a later date. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
