Thomas Daniels Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 27, 2024.
Thomas Edgar Daniels, Sr., 76, of Monroe Township, PA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township, PA. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

Tom, as he was affectionately known, was born in New London, CT on January 27, 1948. He was the son of the late Theodore and Virginia (Jensen) Daniels, and Tom spent his youth in Niantic, CT. Tom's love for family was celebrated in 1975 when he married the true love of his life, Amy. After marriage, Tom and Amy moved to New Milford, CT and in 1978, they started to grow their family with the addition of their daughter, Kristen, who was soon joined by their son, Tommy, daughter, Kerry, and son, Alex. He and the family lived in Roxbury for 11 years before moving to Trumbull and then Monroe, and finally he retired with his loving wife, Amy, to Pennsylvania in 2019. Tom and Amy were married for almost 49 years at the time of his passing. Family was the true backbone for Tom and Amy, and it showed in their lifelong relationships with their children.

As a youth, Tom was a member of the Horseman's Club and Sportsman's Club, which led him to become an avid outdoorsman who loved and owned horses. It was said that he was "born with rural blood in his veins". Growing up, Tom had many hobbies and activities, including playing football at New London High School and continuing that love at Southern Connecticut State College. In college Tom enjoyed drama classes, in addition to gaining the skills to become a decorated police officer. Tom enjoyed giving back to the community, training hundreds of people in gun safety, as well as being a youth hockey referee for many years. With his love of banjo, bluegrass, and surfer music, these tunes could often be heard playing throughout his home.

Tom was a dedicated police officer for most of his adult life, working for the Department of Environmental Protection, the Candlewood Lake Authority, Chief of Police for Aquarian Water Company, the Town of Roxbury, and the Town of Bridgewater. Tom retired from Bridgewater Police Department in 2019, though he continued his service to the community by volunteering at his local Fire Department after settling in Pennsylvania.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Amy, his daughter Kristen Daniels, his son Tommy Daniels Jr, his daughter Kerry Perry and her husband Marc, and his son Alex Daniels III and his wife Amy and their 2 sons, Alex and Aiden. Tom is also survived by his sister Barbara Baker and her husband Ed, as well as his sister Janice Anglin and her husband Randy.

On Saturday, September 14th, there will be a celebration of life for Tom at the Miamogue Yacht Club at 144 Seaview Avenue in Bridgeport, CT from 1:00-5:00PM where everyone is encouraged to join the family to celebrate Tom by telling stories about his amazing life.

You were the best father in law that I could have asked for. I will never forget watching you walk Kerry down the aisle. You will be missed but you will never be forgotten. You will live in the hearts of so many forever. We love you.
