Thomas Kozor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 12, 2025.
Thomas Mitchell Kozor, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. Tom was born in Chicago on January 24, 1946, the youngest of 4 siblings. He attended Brother Rice Catholic School and Fox Business College. Tom worked for the Consolidated Railroad at Union Station for 18 years as the Regional Personnel Manager. In 1981, Tom started Nantom Decorating, employing over 30 people throughout the years. All 4 of his sons worked with him in the summers. His oldest son Bryan worked with Tom full-time for 15 years. Tom officially retired from Nantom in 2011 when he had a brain aneurysm. The past 14 years, he has lived under the care of his wife Nancy.

Tom loved running. He wore out many pairs of shoes running 5K and 10K races. Tom also enjoyed fishing. Tom loved his wife and 4 sons. He cherished spending time at Lake Lawn Lodge making memories with his family. Tom loved his grandchildren. He spent his Saturdays taking out one grandchild to breakfast almost every week. They often did errands for Nantom after breakfast, and usually came home with something unusual and fun.

Tom will be missed by his wife Nancy of 54 years, his 3 sons, Bryan, Michael, and Matthew, his daughter-in-laws, Brenna and Elizabeth, 5 grandchildren, Max, Zach, Calvin, Levi, and Cece, and many old neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Brendan, his parents, and his 3 siblings.

The celebration of life for Tom will be private.

To this day, I still benefit from the skills I learned while working for Nantom Decorating. I so appreciate having Tom not only as a kind, compassionate and patient boss but also as Christian Mentor. See you in Heaven one day Tom!
