MASSARONE Thomas "Tom" Anthony, 86, born in Millbrook, New York, husband of Mildred Massarone, died on Jan 11, 2015. He was the son of the late Benedetto and Caroline Fiore Massarone and brother of the late Monsignor Francis Massarone and sister Angie Massarone. Tom was one of the oldest serving members of St. Paul Catholic Church joining in 1957 where he once served as council president and chairman of the school board. He was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Known as "Mr. IBM" by his coworkers, he retired as a Senior Buyer at IBM after 40 years of service. During this time he was one of the founding members of the IBM Little League games and the Wolf Run Creek public park. Tom was a US Navy veteran of WWII stationed in Guam and later became a member of the American Legion. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mildred, he is survived by two sons, William (Melinda) Massarone and Charles Massarone; a brother, Louis Massarone; and five grandchildren, Dr. Anthony Massarone, Nicholas, Loren (Lieutenant Jonathan Tweed), Matthew and Nicole Massarone. He was very proud of his grandchildren especially his grandson, Anthony, becoming a pharmacist. He is also survived by two special friends Gennaro Galtieri and Ron Carpenter. Special thanks to his second family at Bridgeport Senior Community. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on January 15th from 6-8pm at Milward-Broadway. A graveside service will be held on January 16th at 1:30pm at Camp Nelson National Cemetery and will be officiated by Father Chris Clay with military honors. A memorial service will be held on January 17th at 10am at Saint Paul's Church. www.milwardfuneral.com

I was at Camp Nelson last week and I saw Tom's name on a headstone. I am heartily sorry to hear of his passing, especially ten months later. He and Pepe were my godparents when I was baptized into the Catholic church. Rest in peace, good man.

Tom and I were friends longer than I care to remember. What can you really say that will tell a person what a wonderful friend he was to me. We had many interesting conversations about life, family and experiences. I was not aware of his passing until I tried to contact him at Bridgepoint, they told me he had died. I write this with tears in my eyes and a lump in my heart, He was my FRIEND. He is missed.

For the family, I want to say it was the greatest pleasure getting to know Tom. For the past year while he resided along side of his sweet wife, Mildred at Bridgepointe they stole the hearts of our staff. He looked out for his neighbors as well as the staff. His main focus was always that his dear wife, Mildred was cared for. Even in his last days at Bridgepointe, he continued to put smiles on our faces and emulate a strong positive attitude. God bless you dear friend. You will missed terribly.

You are all in my prayers. I enjoyed working with Chuck in the Kentucky Justice Cabinet. He is a fine man just like his father. God Bless. Your friend...Ken Schwendeman.
