Thomas P. McClary

McClary, Sr., Thomas P., age 83, of St. Clair Shores passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2015, in Maumee, Ohio, with his family at his side. Mr. McClary spent his entire life in the Detroit area; attending De La Salle Collegiate High School in Detroit, graduating in 1950. After high school, he joined his father in the plumbing trade, ultimately earning his master plumber certification from the State of Michigan in 1984 and was a proud lifetime member of Plumber’s Local 98. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army’s 10th Infantry Division of the Company L 87th Infantry. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Patricia, who survives him. Together they formed one of the founding families of St. Isaac Jogues in St. Clair Shores, where they were active parishioners.Mr. McClary cherished his countless friendships forged through his entire life. He was a proud member of the Cpl. Walter F. Bruce VFW Post 1146 and the Fraternal Order of United Irishmen. And, he followed his Detroit Tigers attending his first game in 1938, season after season, through thick and thin. He is also survived by his four children, Patricia Jr. (Andy), Lisa (Lee), Thomas Jr. (Heather) and Michael (Sheryl). He was beloved by his nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Private services have been held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.
