Thomas Meyer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2024.
Thomas Kristian Meyer, known affectionally as "Tommy," passed away on July 23, 2024, in North Myrtle Beach, SC, at the age of 50. Born on Christmas Day in 1973 in Kingston, NY, Tommy grew up to be the quintessential "life of the party," known for his quick wit and ability to lighten the mood with a well-timed joke.

Tommy's passions were deeply rooted in his love for sports, especially his devotion to the Duke Blue Devils and the Carolina Panthers. He was also an avid participant in fantasy sports, dedicating much of his free time to this pursuit. Professionally, Tommy spent the majority of his career as a Real Estate Appraiser, along side his mother, before taking on a managerial role at Food Lion for the last eight years.

Tommy is survived by a loving family: his mother, Barbara Ann Meyer; his wife, Dana Marie Wilson Meyer; his children, Mitchell "Austin" Freeman (girlfriend Jillian Isabella "Bella" Martin), Barbara Ann Meyer, and Joseph "Joey" Thomas Meyer; his brother, Eugene Christopher Meyer; and his niece and nephew, Ashley Nicole Meyer and Nicholas Charles Meyer. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly. Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Fredrick Meyer, and his brother, Christopher "Chris" Meyer.

At this time, no services are planned. A celebration of Tommy's life will be scheduled at a later date, where friends and family can come together to honor his memory and the joy he brought into their lives.

Whenever I saw Tommy he was always smiling. He would make me laugh. When we were together at his Mom's for an occasion or just visiting, it was always a happy time. Tommy knew how to be happy and keep those around him happy. We will miss you Tommy.

I became best friends with his daughter, Barbara, in middle school. He had always welcomed me into the house and treated me like his own. He was a funny, and caring individual and I will always remember those moments of sitting on their back porch, laughing and talking with the whole family
