DANVERS – Thomas P. McNulty 56, of Danvers, entered unexpectantly into eternal rest on Thursday, May 30, 2019. He is free from pain and is with his late parents, Thomas R. and Ruth A. McNulty and his beloved Maltese, Charlie. He was the son-in-law of the late Frank and Barbara Scheffler, and brother-in-law of the late Joanne Scheffler of Swampscott. He is survived by his three heart-broken children, who he adored and cherished; his daughter Emily, twins Tommy and Julia and their mother Louise. Tom was the eldest of 4 siblings. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Kelly and Paul Theriault, Maureen and Bill Merritt, all from Danvers, his brother, John McNulty and sister-in-law Clara McNulty from Warwick, RI. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law and wife, John and Kristen Scheffler of Marblehead and his sister-in-law and her husband Kathryn and Vito Mastrangelo of Danvers. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews; Shannon and Nicole Theriault, Patrick, Cody and Brendan Merritt, Lilly Mastrangelo and Mary and Danielle McNulty. He leaves behind a large extended family including his Grandmother and Godmother, Elinor Wells of Peabody, the entire Wells family, McNulty, McGroarty, O'Neil and Cechony cousins as well as the Noone family in Ireland. Tom was born in Salem on March 2, 1963 and lived in Peabody until he was 10 years old and then lived the rest of his life in Danvers where he had countless good friends. As a youth, Tom played hockey, baseball and football. Tom continued to play football at Danvers High School where he graduated in 1981 and loved being part of the team. Following high school, Tom joined the National Guard and later transferred to the Army Reserves where he retired after 20 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a graduate of Salem State University. Tom worked at Verizon for many years and for Century Link the past few years. He loved coaching his 3 children in soccer and baseball. He was a huge fan of all Boston sports and would often host get-togethers with his Danvers friends to watch games. He hosted many parties recently where there was laughing, chanting and great times by the backyard fires. These are the memories the family will cherish forever. What Tom loved most was spending time with his beloved children of whom he was immensely proud. He was a kind, loving, funny and patient dad who would do anything for his children. He never missed a football, basketball, volleyball game or any event of his kids. They enjoyed many memorable vacations to the Cape, Walt Disney World, Mexico, California, and most recently, they enjoyed live comedy shows and the St. Patrick Day's parade in New York City. He was passionate about yoga, meditation, playing the guitar, working out and organic, clean eating. Tom was very spiritual and enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be gardening or watching the bunnies in the backyard. Tom will be missed tremendously by his children, his entire family and friends. Tom celebrated in life and the family wishes that he be remembered by celebrating his life. Rest in peace dear Tom. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Tuesday, June 4th at 10:15 A.M. Followed by his funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers, at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours Monday, June 3rd from 4 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Tom's memory to Sweet Paws Rescue, P.O. Box 752, Essex, MA 01929. Oh Nutter. I am so profoundly saddened to hear of the news of your passing. Every single post has the same theme. As far as I can recall, I didn't know you until my high school years. Grew up in Jersey til I was 10, moved to Danvers and before we met, became a Preppy. Back then there was some tension between DHS kids and Preppies. Not with you my Friend. You always made me feel like a Townie. I remember meeting your Brother later on and not being the least bit surprised what a sweet kid he was. I don't think it's a coincidence that Thanksgiving became my favorite Holiday after those pre Thanksgiving Day game parties at your Parents' home. In my mind, during the 80s, you were the Mayor of Danvers. RIP my Dear Friend!

I never met Tom in person, but worked with him remotely over the past several years here at CenturyLink. We loved to chat about our love for sports and our two cities rivalries. The Cavs vs. Celtics and most recently the CBJ vs the Bruins! I also have boy/girl twins so we enjoyed conversations about our children. I can't imagine what you are all going through, but wanted to send my sympathies. Tom is such an awesome person and will be greatly missed!
