In the summer of 1977 I served at Bethany Baptist Church in Wilmington, DE where Dr. Painter was pastor. I was a summer missionary with the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. It was a landmark experience. I never realized he was from South Carolina, the state where I now live.
