Thomas Peckenpaugh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 9, 2025.
Thomas "Tom" Peckenpaugh, 79, passed away on February 4, 2025, in Springfield, Oregon. Born on June 13, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, Tom lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep affection for his family, and a unique sense of humor that left lasting impressions on those around him.

Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His time in the military shaped much of his disciplined yet thoughtful nature. Though he often kept to himself, those who knew him understood the depth of his sensitivity and how deeply he cared-even if he didn't always show it outwardly.

A man of many interests and quirks, Tom had a fondness for Converse sneakers and graphic t-shirts that reflected his personality-bold, expressive, and unapologetically himself. He had a passion for technology and could often be found exploring new gadgets or tinkering with electronics. He also found joy in the natural world through bird watching and tending to tulips, which brought color and calm into his life.

Cooking was one of Tom's greatest joys. He was known for preparing pig ears and spaghetti with hard-boiled eggs-dishes that became family staples and conversation starters. These meals were more than just food; they were expressions of love and tradition that connected generations.

Tom deeply missed his beloved wife Mary, who preceded him in death along with his parents Frances and Thomas, and his brother. Despite the sorrow of these losses, he continued to find moments of happiness through laughter shared with family and memories cherished.

He leaves behind a loving legacy through his children: daughters Robin, Martha, Tiffany; sons Terry, Gary, and Justin; as well as numerous grandchildren including Peyton and Chanelle. His family remembers him as funny and smart-a man whose quiet demeanor belied a heart full of love and warmth.

Tom's memory will live on in every joke retold at family gatherings, every pair of worn-in Converse shoes laced up by someone who knew him, every tulip blooming in springtime. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
