Mr. Thomas Andrew Pendergast

Thomas Andrew Pendergast, 69, died April 12, 2009 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, FL. Born in Bennington, VT, he has resided in Hobe Sound, FL since 1997, coming from Saratoga Springs, NY. He was a retired Sales Executive for IBM. He graduated from Bennington High School, Bennington, VT in 1957 and received his Bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College in Massachusetts. He served in the Army National Guard of Virginia. He was also the longtime President of the Shenendehowa High School Athletic Booster Club, as well as President of the Junior Plainsmen Football league. He loved to travel, having recently completed a cross-country adventure in his convertible Corvette. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan, and an avid follower of the Washington Redskins and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football program. He spent countless hours enjoying the beach, visiting with friends, and volunteering his time and energy to an array of charitable organizations. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of St. Christopher in Hobe Sound, FL. He was a member of American Legion Post 400 in Florida; lifetime member of B. P. O. E. 567 of Bennington, VT; former member of Martin County Planning Board ; and past Treasurer of Jamestown Property Owners Association Board of Directors, Hobe Sound, FL. Survivors include his daughter, Maureen Pendergast of Woodbridge, VA; sons, Michael Pendergast (Holly) of Gilbert, AZ; Timothy Pendergast (Marcy) of Albany, NY; Daniel Pendergast (Jeannine) of Saratoga Springs, NY; Brendan Pendergast of Albany, NY; former wives , Margaret Dermody Pendergast of Bennington, VT and CeCe Pendergast-Friskey of Alachua, FL; four grandchildren, Amanda, Meghan, Lauren, Maggie; brothers, Paul Pendergast (Linda) of Bloomfield, CT; James Pendergast (Kathy) of Charleston, SC; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderw James and Helen Carroll Pendergast; and brother, Edward C. Pendergast. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 12001-D SE Federal Hwy., Hobe Sound, FL 33455. SERVICES: Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 4PM, Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 12001 SE Federal Hwy., Hobe Sound, FL 33455 and the family will be hosting a Gathering of Family and Friends, a Memorial Party in Saratoga Springs, NY at The Parting Glass Saturday, April 25th beginning at 3pm.
