Mr. Preston,
I am so sad to hear of Tom's passing. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Tom was my first best friend when I met him at First Presbaterian Church when we were only 5 or 6 years old. While I have not spoken with Tom in many years, I often think of the times I spent with him while growing up. I vividly remember how much fun Tom and I had and how good you and Shirley were to me. I was so proud that Tom Preston was my friend and I truely understand how Tom grew up to be such a great man.
Your family will forever be in my fondest of memories.
Sincerely, Martin Cross

Mr. Preston, please accept my condolences on the loss of your son. I had the pleasure of playing football with Tom at THS. He was a junior when I was a senior. The thing I remember the most about Tom, was his incredible smile. He was a great guy then and clearly became a great man. May the peace of the Lord surround you. Your parting is temporary. Life is a spec of sand in the beaches of eternity. Let us all honor Tom's life by living our own as he did, with passion and purpose for doing good.

Your Facebook page is a testament to how many folks' lives you have touched. The things you were striving for, now left unfilled, saddened me the most. I hope those things will inspire others to pick up where you left off. You've reached your safe harbour my friend. May you RIP. Jane Ed

Tom was the best man I've ever met. His smile could light up a room. I am so sorry to hear about him passing away. I know that Tom is now with his mother, watching over us all from above as an angel of God.

I recently met Tom in class at King College. He was such a thoughtful, considerate man. I will always remember how he spoke of helping children, especially the less fortunate and ones with special needs (which is near and dear to my heart). I will miss him and his wonderful smile and friendship. I pray that God will touch you in his special way and comfort you now and forever. I know one thing for sure; the loss of this man is Heaven's Gain.

Mr. Preston, I am so saddened and so very sorry to hear about Tom. I had the pleasure to play football and run track with Tom from 4th grade through 12th grade. Being a teammate with Tom, he always made everyone else look good and he was a true leader both on and off the field. He set the bar high and could always be counted on. And man how he could run the ball. I know he made you very proud both as an athlete and moreover as the outstanding Christian man he grew up to be. May God bless and comfort you at this time. With sincerest and deepest sympathies,

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He worked at Barkers with my mother years ago. My mom always liked to Tom. She said he was a fine young man. We had just got back in touch with each other not long ago on facebook. I like to think he and my mom are together talking in heaven now.

Our dear, kind Thomas,
I am very sadden & most shocked to be reading of your most precious son, "Tom", passing. I do rejoice in knowing that he is with our heavenly Father & God calling him home to "The Promise Land" of "Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah Land." "Tom" was a good person & I am sure that he was ready to go home whenever our heavenly Father called for him. He will certainly be missed at Lee Street Baptist Church just like his precious mother, Shirley, & so many others from the church that our Lord has called home is. He sure did have his mother's out going personality...so sweet, kind & friendly. I am not saying that you aren't, Thomas, for you are. You were the guite one & they were outgoing & happy all the time. We loved them & will forever miss them & we love you.
I know that Shirley was ready to meet our Lord when He called her home for she was a wonderful, faithful Christian & she served Him greatly. I am sure she is still giving her/your's baby "Brock" hugs & kisses just as she is giving "Tom" hugs & kisses...another "Wedding Celebration" going on in heaven.
God has been calling home alot of His good & faithful servants from Lee Street Baptist Church lately. Although we can't see them doesn't mean that we don't think of them often or that we don't miss them because we do. I will always carry them in my heart because of their wonderful Christian spirit that they left us to remember them by.
Thomas, I am sorry that Andy & I will not be able to attend what I know will be a beautiful celebration of "Tom's" life for we will be out of town. If we were here, we would certainly be there for his homecoming celebration. I want you to know that "Tom" will truely be missed for we missed him when he moved out of town to work & it was so good to see him when he came back.
Thomas, you will be in our thoughts & prayers & you know & we know that you will see your precious loved ones again because they are not dead. When it comes your time, you will not die... for your faith, acceptance & service to God will give you everlasing life & be joined with God & all of God's children. You will be in our thoughts & prayers. We love you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
