Thomas B. Schafer

Schafer, Thomas B. "Thumper" Gobles Passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 21, 2023 at Kairos Dwelling. Tom was born April 27, 1953 in Kalamazoo the son of William and Donna (Dignan) Schafer and had been a life long resident in the Kalamazoo area. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement he was the Assistant Manager for several years with Schafer's Flowers. Tom was an avid Detroit Lions fan and enjoyed playing his banjo, fishing, and watching the wildlife in his backyard. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Tom is survived by his son, Jessi Schafer; daughters, Jessica (Matthew) Sisson, Leesa Goodale; several grandchildren; brother and sister, Charlie (Linda) Schafer, Patti Schafer; special nephew, Bill Schafer; and Mindy, Stacy, Jeremy, and Nick; along with loving bonus parents, Sis and Ken Belson. Friends may meet the family from 1:00-2:00pm Friday, March 24 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 where funeral services will be held at 2:00pm. A light reception will follow the service and private interment will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
