Thomas Sullivan, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 9, 2024.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Thomas Michael Sullivan, Jr., of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Dorchester and Norwell, MA, on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the age of 70 years.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Paula (Scarpelli) Sullivan of Vero Beach, Florida, his son Thomas Michael Sullivan III and his wife Nicole Sullivan of Norwell, MA, and his two grandsons Thomas Michael Sullivan IV and Matthew James Sullivan.

Tom was born on December 20, 1953 in Boston, MA to parents Thomas M. and Maggie L. Sullivan. He is survived by his siblings: Moira Sullivan of Naples, Florida, Peter C. Sullivan of Quincy, MA, Joyce Sullivan and her husband Tom Johnson of Hull, MA, and Timothy C. Sullivan of Quincy, MA. Tom leaves many extended family members, including nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

He was known by many names including Tom, Michael, Sully, Boston Tom, and Big Mike to name a few. The names that brought him his greatest joy were Pop and Grampy. He spent his career working in HVAC design and sales. For him it was never a job, just something he loved to do. He had a passion for boating, music, and spending time on the water. He was a dedicated member of the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club, serving the Club as President and Vice President. He was known for his cooking, and delighted in preparing food for family and friends. Everything he prepared was delicious-and made from the recipe in his head. His first question of the day was "what would you like for dinner?"

Tom was big hearted and vibrant-and radiated light. He accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile. He was generous, loyal, and strong. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge.

Tom was a double organ transplant recipient in 2018. He was forever grateful to the donor and their family. Donations may be made in Tom's memory to the New England Donor Services, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to come together and honor his memory. May Tom's spirit live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and may his legacy inspire others to find joy in the things they are passionate about.

So sorry to hear this. I'm sure Franny greeted him at the Gate and they are up to their old antics - Franny and Rubberhead - what a pair. I can see them now jumping off the cove with their humpback whale poses! God bless you during this very difficult time Paula.

Tom was super helpful to me in the early years of my business. He took me under his wing and helped me get set up with Carrier which has helped to this day. I remember many days, sitting in his office for several hours on the top floor of his house in Hull going over building plans, Carrier equipment, sales strategies, steam boiler designs etc.
I will be ever grateful for his help and affection toward me those years.

My family and I had the chance to meet Tom in 2019. We are so grateful to have been able to meet Tom and know he shared so many things in common with my son Justin, whom Tom shared a heart and kidney with. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
