Thomas Wayne Swingley

Thomas W. Swingley, 77, Muncie, passed away June 5, 2018 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 1, 1940 in Muncie Indiana to the late Jake and Ida Mae Swingley.

Tom graduated from Cowan High School in 1958 and shortly thereafter joined the Army, proudly serving his country for four years while stationed in Germany. Tom enjoyed many careers in his full life, but farming was his lifelong passion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sharon Swingley; son Mitchell (Heather); stepsons Scott (Cristin) and Tony (Jolee) Hiatt; grandchildren, Trevor and Laci Swingley, Brandon (Misty), Tiffany, Josh, Jake, Isaac and Chloe Hiatt, and Madison Painter, along with great-grandchildren Zoie Weatherford and Adalyn Hiatt. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family who loved Tom, including special cousin, Donnie Swingley, special friend Frank McCreery, and the Arby's Coffee Group. Tom will be missed by so many.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Swingley, father Jake Swingley, son Scott Swingely, brother, Barney Swingley, mother- and father in-law, Kenneth and Martha Lindsay, and brother-in-law, David Lindsay.

There will be a celebration of Tom's life on Sunday June 10, 2018, starting at 3:00 PM at the Fountain Square United Methodist Church, 4405 S. Madison Street, Muncie, with Pastor Steve Graves officiating. The family will also be receiving family and friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM before the celebration.
