Thomas S. Walton, 83, passed away on Feb. 8, 2017. Tom was born to Marvin Scott and Cynthia Susan Beck Walton of Clewiston, FL on Jan 4, 1934. Following graduation from Clewiston HS in 1952, he served honorably in the US Marine Corps, then enrolled in the Univ. of FL, receiving a degree in Electronic Engineering in 1960. During college, he married his wife of 60 years, the former Glenda Poole of Belle Glade, who survives him. He is also survived by son T. Scott Walton II (Stacey) and three grandsons, Zachary, Ryan, and Jacob; brothers, Mitchell Harrell and Gerald (LaJean) Walton; and many nieces and nephews.
Following graduation from UF, Tom began his NASA career in 1961. At Kennedy Space Center, Tom served as a key member of the launch site team throughout the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Programs. At the advent of the Shuttle Program, Tom was a lead project manager in design and implementation of the Launch Processing System (LPS) that supported launches throughout the Shuttle era. When retiring in 1984, Tom was KSC's Director of Cargo Operations with launch site support responsibility for both Shuttle Payloads and Expendable Launch Vehicles and their payloads.
Visitation will be held at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home in Merritt Island on Saturday, Feb 18 at 2pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brevard Humane Society or Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches.

My sincere sympathy to the Walton family in Tommy's passing. He was a really fine person, and was a mentor for many of us at NASA KSC. His abilities to get to the root of an issue, and to put people at ease were true gifts ... he always made you feel that your ideas were important.

Dear Walton Family,
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Walton. Our memories of him go way back to our arrival in Florida and our first house on Holly Ave in 1962.
We wish you peace and love during this difficult time.
Peace in knowing that Tom is in a better place now. Just picturing him having a great reunion with many friends and family in heaven. We know he has already sat down for a beer and conversation with our dad, Herb Weisner.
Love in knowing that you have family and friends to help you through this difficult transition in life.

The Marine Corps Prayer
Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of thy presence and obedient to thy will.
Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones, and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family. Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Make me considerate to those committed to my leadership. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.
If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again.
Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer
