WILSON, Sgt. Thomas Russell "Tom" Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 1, 2003, at home in Essex at 49 years. Tom was not only a beloved husband for 26 years, but also a best friend since high school to Mary (Frederick). Loving father of Stephanie and Russell, both at home. Son of the late Kirby and Theresa Wilson. Dearest brother of Wanda Krzewski and husband Dan, Burlington; and Wendy Marcelloni and husband Franco of Windsor. Son-in-law of Catherine Frederick, Windsor. Dear brother-in-law of Albert Frederick and wife Simone, Windsor; Margaret Graham and husband Gerry, Windsor; Gail Hope, Windsor; Russell Frederick and wife Leslie, Ottawa; Elaine Dorman, Hamilton; and John Frederick and wife Mary Ellen of Oakville. Tom will be fondly remembered and missed by many nieces, nephews, The Essex Police Service, neigh-bours, and many many friends. Tom became a Police Cadet with the Toronto Police Service in October 1973, and in August of 1975 joined the Essex Town Police Service as a constable. On July 1st 1990 he was promoted to Sergeant and through all of his hard work and dedication was appointed Chief of Police of the Essex Police Services. Upon amalgamation on January 1, 1999 Tom took the position of Sergeant of Essex Police Services. In his career of almost 30 years Tom demon-strated leadership qualities and endless enthusiasm in volunteer pursuits along with many others in his community. In 1985 he received the Police Community Relations Award, in 1986 he was given the Law Enforcement Award, and in 1993 received the Police Exemplary Service Medal. Tom sat on the Board of Directors with the Essex Emergency Health Education Program, was a member of the Essex Optimist Club, the Board of Directors for the Essex County Crisis Intervention Program and Chair of the Board of Essex Community Services. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home, 87 Maidstone Ave. E., Essex (776-4233), on Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass to celebrate Tom's life will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 180 Talbot St. S., Essex, on Wednesday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Larry Brunet, Fr. Chris Quinlan, and Fr. Michael Parent officiating. Parish Prayers Tuesday 8 p.m. Mary and her family would like to thank The Essex Police Service for all of their tremendous support and time, along with the entire staff at Community Care Access Centre (CCAC). Special thanks to Mary Schmidt, Kathleen Schartner, Maryanne Laframboise, Lynn Dunn and Faye Lajore, Dr. Jones, Dr. Alam, Dr. Schneider, Dr. Abdullah, Dr. Ahpin, Dr. Yoshida, and Maureen Dorion for their assistance, compassion, and care.
